From the cover alone, and from the cast list ensemble, I figured that this 2023 thriller would be a movie from Maverick Entertainment. Sure, I had never heard about the movie, and knew nothing about it, aside from the movie's cover and looking it up on IMDb, and true enough as the movie started that ethereal horse came galloping across the screen, heralding the arrival of another movie from Maverick Entertainment.
The movie started out nicely enough and proved to be enjoyable and entertaining, but it sort of hit a brick wall shortly before halfway through and the narrative went into a stall, from which it didn't recover. Writers Johnnard Harper and Anthony Leone didn't exactly deliver a particularly entertaining or enjoyable script for the movie.
The acting performances in "Bruised" were fair. Unfortunately I've watched enough of Maverick Entertainment movies to be familiar with Roc Living and J. D. Laguerre.
For a movie from Maverick Entertainment, I will say that "Bruised" was actually at the higher end of the scale in terms of production value, just a shame that the storyline turned out to be a cold, dead fish.
If you enjoy thrillers, then there are far, far better movies readily available out there, and I wouldn't recommend you to waste your time on this one.
My rating of director Johnnard Harper's 2023 movie "Bruised" lands on a four out of ten stars.
