ABC Buys Comedies From Danny Wallace And Duo Jennifer Crittenden & Gaby Allan

Exclusive: ABC has added two more comedy projects to its roster — True Story from Jennifer Crittenden and Gaby Allan and Man And Boy from British writer Danny Wallace and director-producer Julie Anne Robinson. Both comedies are single-camera and produced by ABC Studios. True Story, described as a female take on Wonder Years, is based on Crittenden and Allan’s experience as girls growing up with single moms in the 1970s. It is a look at what happens when a freshly divorced and boundary-less mother moves herself and 2 daughters in with her party girl best friend in Laguna Beach, CA in the late 1970′s. Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond alumna Crittenden and former Scrubs writer-producer Allan are writing-executive producing through their overall deal at ABC Studios. Tony Hale signs up for 'Veep' pilot
Tony Hale has reportedly signed up for a role in HBO's new pilot Veep. The comedy stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as former senator Selina Meyer, who ends up becoming vice-president. Deadline says that Hale has now joined the cast as Selina's right-hand man. Writers Jeff and Jackie Filgo have departed ABC's upcoming Danny Wallace sitcom Awkward Situations For Men. The network is currently producing a reworked pilot for the show, which is based on Wallace's book of the same name. Jeff & Jackie Filgo Exit 'Awkward Situations'

Exclusive: Jeff Filgo and Jackie Filgo have left ABC's comedy hopeful Awkward Situations For Men. The hybrid comedy starring popular British humorist/on-air personality Danny Wallace is one of 3 pilots from this past development season ABC is making new pilots for, along with How To Be a Better American and Wright vs. Wrong. That '70s Show veterans Jeff & Jackie Filgo wrote the original pilot with Wallace and served as executive producers/showrunners. Warner Bros. TV, which produces the project, will presumably bring in a new showrunner to replace them for the reworked pilot. Inspired by Wallace's book Awkward Situations for Men, the ABC project follows him as he moves to the U.S. with his wife, only to discover that his everyday behavior clashes with American values and gets him into trouble.
