The Predator Brings in Captain America: Civil War Composer

The Predator Brings in Captain America: Civil War Composer
Henry Jackman is going to compose the score for Shane Black's The Predator. Black, who starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original Predator, has been hard at work on the reboot/sequel for a while now, but the project is coming together and will be released in theaters this fall. One of the final pieces of the puzzle has been put into place, as the Captain America: Civil War composer has been tapped to score the original soundtrack for The Predator.

As far as composers in the modern landscape of cinema, Henry Jackman may not be the flashiest name, but he's very capable and prolific. Aside from Captain America: Civil War, some of his credits include Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Kong: Skull Island, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Captain Phillips and Disney's upcoming Wreck-It Ralph sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet. He's also worked in the video game world,

Submission movie review: a hot take on gender power dynamics from opposite-world

MaryAnn’s quick take… In the moment of #MeToo and #TimesUp, this tale of the relationship between an older male professor and his young female student is howlingly out of step and outrageously tone deaf. And that’s on top of its tedious clichés. I’m “biast” (pro): love Stanley Tucci

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

I have not read the source material

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto) women’s participation in this film

(learn more about this)

Movies can take years to make, so it’s impossible to know into what sort of cultural zeitgeist the finished project will ultimately be released. But a special booby prize must go to Submission for getting it so opposite-world, upside-down wrong. I means, sure, this film would have been offensive when it debuted at the Los Angeles Film Festival last June, but since then we’ve had Harvey Weinstein,

Leth, Zandvliet team for skinhead drama

  • ScreenDaily
Leth, Zandvliet team for skinhead drama
Project comes from Land Of Mine’s producer and writer duo.

Danish director Asger Leth (Man On A Ledge) will direct the timely, politically-minded Us-set drama White Dog, from a story by Land Of Mine writer/director Martin Zandvliet.

Nordisk’s Mikael Rieks, who also produced the likely Oscar-contender Land Of Mine, will produce. Zandvliet co-wrote the script with Anders August.

The film is described as “an eye-level portrait of two skinhead brothers at a point in their lives where their paths are pointed in very different directions.”

The team expects to shoot the film in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“The film will take place in Pittsburgh, USA, but it is just as easily a portrait of a time where populist politicians everywhere are appealing to the worst in us,” said Asger Leth, whose credits also include Ghosts Of Cite Soleil.

Meanwhile, Zandvliet is currently in pre-production in Japan on his English-language debut The Outsider starring Jared Leto.

We’ve known about the Fantastic Four reboot for quite some time, but that hasn’t stopped it being a mysterious project which, until this week, we knew next to nothing about.

We knew that the cast, director and groundwork of the original 2005 film, and its 2007 sequel Rise Of The Silver Surfer, had been firmly thrown out in favour of a new visual look, some reimagining of the source material and an altogether more modern take on the Marvel comics property. Beyond that, many facets of the film remained a mystery.

Yet the reveal of the new trailer finally gave us a few more specifics. And here's what we know so far...

The behind the scenes team

Even these basic facts are a little complicated. While the question

Rectify Renewed For Third Season

As the first original series from SundanceTV, Rectify was something of a gamble on the part of the network. Premiering on April 22 2013 with six episodes, however, the drama quickly established itself as a critical success, winning loyal fans and avid followers. Season two followed on June 19 2014, and is about to wrap after 10 episodes. Fans need not worry, though, as the show has now been renewed for a third season.

The premise of the series is simple, but with endless possibility for exploration. The story focuses on Daniel Holden who, as a teenager, was convicted and imprisoned for the rape and murder of his 16 year old girlfriend, Hanna. 19 years later, new DNA evidence proves his innocence and he is freed. His attempts to adjust, and the attempts of those around him to do the same, form a character study within a Southern Gothic tale.

Starring Aden Young (I, Frankenstein), Abigail Spencer

Snowpiercer movie review: hunger train

Hauntingly grim, full of appalling ironies and awful truths. This is most definitely not the feel-good movie of the summer. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m a big Sf geek

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

I have not read the source material

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

There’s a reason why Snowpiercer — which could have, theoretically, easily been a centerpiece summer film for a major Hollywood studio — is getting handled with the timid kid gloves of an arthouse release by the industry, quietly dribbling into a few cinemas here and there instead of getting a big opening-weekend push out onto three thousand screens. It’s a reason that has a lot to do with what the film has to say about human nature, hope, despotism, and a revolutionary spirit that might want to counter that despotism. What Snowpiercer is about offers too harsh

Justin Long is Slowly Becoming a Walrus in New Bloody Tusk Photo

Justin Long ('Drag Me to Hell') has been snapped by director Kevin Smith in what might be the actors most uncomfortable scenario to date. Laying with his arms stitched to his sides with a mouth full of what either appears to be a mouth full of blood or at least missing teeth. Long's character is the unsuspecting victim of an absolute nutter played by 'Red State' star Michael Parks who decides his new roommate should be converted into a human/walrus hybrid. Long stars alongside Haley Joel Osment ('The Sixth Sense') and Genesis Rodriguez ('Man on a Ledge') also star as Long's best friend and girlfriend, of course respectively. Head below the image....

Asian Film Buyers Guide

The theatrical market in the Asian-Pacific region is now the largest single component of global box office, worth $11.1 billion in 2013, the year when it overtook both North America ($10.9 billion) and Europe-Middle East-Africa (also $10.9 billion). And unlike the European and North American markets, which have stagnated, Asia has been on a steady upward trend, driven on by growth in China, India and Malaysia as well as emerging movie markets Indonesia and Vietnam.

But if the overall trend is upward, the individual market conditions faced by distributors within the region vary enormously:

In booming South Korea, the major exhibitors are under anti-monopoly investigation, yet the number of film imports and releases is one of the highest in the world. In China, these days the world’s fastest growing major market, government policy favors local films and local companies. While import quotas grab the headlines for their effect on Hollywood studio titles, censorship
