Abuse, Drugs, Molestation, and Neglect are the elements of her childhood. Monique watched as her mom destroyed her body with drugs. She defended her life from the predators that came in and out of her mothers home in Atlanta. The painful sounds she took in as a young girl were converted to beautiful sounds of poetry in her journal. The hurtful environment left her with no option but release emotions through poetry.
