While ironclad ships had been around since the Civil War, does anyone know if an ironclad stagecoach or repeating firearms existed in the the late 1800's? I thought the first repeating firearms came in during WWI (1914 - 1918.) Jack London's story takes place during the Yukon Gold Rush (which was in 1898) and I'm assuming that the story takes place around that time (give or take a year or 2.)
Still an enjoyable story, but I'm having trouble getting beyond what seems to be a strange anachronism.
