Leslie asked Frank if he was ever a lawyer. Frank answers that it never worked out, and adds that he did act as his own lawyer once. Frank was played by John Larroquette, who also guest-starred as Joey Heric in The Practice (1997) from 1997-2002, representing himself against several charges of murder. He also previously played Dan Fielding, a prosecutor in Night Court (1984) from 1984-1992, White House Counsel Lionel Tribbey in The West Wing (1999) from 2000-2001 and Carl Sack, a senior partner at Crane, Poole, and Schmidt, in Boston Legal (2004) from 2007-2008.
In this episode Ann has bought Mark some bathroom towels saying "he was using a bathrobe!" This is a nod to The Office episode Women's Appreciation (2007), Pam buys a bathrobe from Victoria's Secret saying she'll turn it into bath towels.
