Did You Know?

The gag during the bachelor party when one of the cops mentions to Monk that there is a bathroom in his bathroom (a port-a-john inside the bathroom) is a spoof of a story on 'The Onion' about a Starbucks opening inside the restroom of an existing Starbucks (which itself satirizes a common fact that one can find Starbucks shops practically next door to each other in major cities). In the final scene, as the bridal party walks off the beach at sunset, the overhead shot shows their shadows falling to the west, towards the sun. See more »

Natalie Teeger: You want me to hold the ring?
Adrian Monk: I got it.
Natalie Teeger: Why don't you put it in your pocket?
Adrian Monk: Pockets rip.
Natalie Teeger: How about a drawer?
Adrian Monk: Not reliable.
Natalie Teeger: Really? I find drawers to be pretty reliable.
Adrian Monk: I'd just worry about it. You know, I'd obsess over it. Probably end up carrying the whole bureau around with me.
[as a consequence, he clenches his hand into a fist for much of the episode, holding the ring still]

Marriage in the air
14 November 2009 | by ctomvelu1See all my reviews

A return to form for the series. A charred corpse is found in a park. Stottlemeyer is about to get married, and suddenly his has become the target of an unseen prankster who ransacks his apartment and torches his car. Somehow, the burned body and the prankster are connected, but Monk and the captain are mystified as to how. A tiny piece of evidence finally turns things around, very much in the Sherlock Holmes tradition. A great episode, with plenty of interplay among the four principals. The real suspense is whether or not the captain will end up getting married with all the nonsense that is going on. Virginia Madsen and Carol Kane guest-star, the latter as a nutty florist who has a great scene with Shalhoub in a flower shop. By the way, we know who the culprit is early on, but the fun is in watching Monk and the captain close in on the bad guy.
