Roll-out, Cowboy is an incredibly well-done documentary about unknown performer Chris Sand. The documentary follows Sand, a talented and complex singer, songwriter, musician and rapper, from his home in North Dakota to a U.S. tour with his friends (a musical/comedy duo) back to North Dakota. Sand is a compelling subject for a documentary with an interesting and relatively liberal family in a not-so-liberal state. The other people in the film, including those in his home-town and the musical/comedy duo are surprisingly sincere and interesting, as well. The directors capture his life and tribulations, as well as those around him quite well. Never a dull moment makes Roll-out, Cowboy an entertaining documentary, and one that doesn't quiet lend a hint as to where Chris Sand my land, eventually.
