A really touching short

I saw Wish143 at the Palm Springs short fest where it won the audience award… and I loved it. Don't want to give away too much but it's about a kid who is fighting for his life and is granted a final wish by one of those organizations that wants to give them a treat. Of course he wishes for something that is hard to get hold of and the film highlights his journey trying to obtain this goal. The film is a great mix of dark comedy and drama and I found myself laughing one minute and holding back the tears the next. Was amazed by the amount of top tier British actors in it – Jim Carter, Jodie Whitaker (who I loved in Venus) and Dean Andrews who I have seen in the British version of Life on Mars. Also thought the lead guy Samual Peter Holland played the lead character David with real sensitivity.
