Love Island 2005: What happened to winner Jayne Middlemiss? Or love god Lee Sharpe? We find out!

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?

Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.

Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.

The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?

As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

Jayne Middlemiss

Daybreak, 10 O'Clock Live and TV's slow starters

Four big live shows launched in the last few months – and immediately ran aground. Mark Lawson revisits them a few weeks on to see whether they can bounce back

Programme-makers frequently regard TV criticism as an act of violence. If that's the case, then the brutality is specifically baby-battering: most shows are reviewed only in their earliest days and then left neglected, even if they carry on for months or even years afterwards.

So, to redress this tendency, I checked up on the state of recent high-profile launches or relaunches: Daybreak (ITV1), 10 O'Clock Live (Channel 4), The One Show (BBC1) and Ok! TV (Channel 5). To what extent do new formats adjust in response to critical complaint or ratings failure? Does the media insistence on reflecting the fresh fail to acknowledge the possibility that formats mature and improve?

The programme with most investment in the theory that TV shows might get

Kate Walsh: 'Studio Five makes me cringe'
Kate Walsh has admitted that she cringes when she thinks about her first shows on Live From Studio Five. Walsh, Melinda Messenger and Ian Wright launched the teatime magazine show in 2009, but the programme struggled with ratings and was savaged by TV critics. Speaking to Celebritain about the opening episodes, she said: "I have to be honest, I look back at the first few weeks of Live From Studio Five and cringe. "Three big personalities trying to get their opinion across, it was loud, chaotic with a lack of structure or control (more)

Dancing On Ice 2011: Chloe Madeley to present on This Morning?

ITV bosses are said to be so impressed with the natural mannerisms of Chloe Madeley, that they are considering offering her a job on their daytime TV show This Morning.

Chloe finished in third place on last night’s Dancing On Ice final and has seen her profile raised massively since she joined the lineup for the show.

Her mum and dad famously fronted This Morning for thirteen years and Chloe is now close friends with new presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

A source told The Sun:

“Everyone is impressed by her natural easy manner and likeability.

“Her parents might be two big names but Chloe is incredibly humble, which has endeared her to a lot of important people at ITV.”

Her mum and dad are said to be fully behind the idea and the source added:

“They are incredibly supportive of Chloe’s career and would be proud

Kate Walsh: 'Grateful for Ok! TV role'
Kate Walsh has admitted her surprise at being drafted in to replace Denise Van Outen on Ok! TV. "It really was [a surprise]," she told New magazine. "I'd come to terms with Live From Studio Five finishing and was considering my options. I'd put a showreel together but was also thinking about business (more)

Ok! TV. It's neither: Channel 5's new show aims low and misses

The TV spin-off from Richard Desmond's celebrity magazine is colossally vapid

There are launches, soft launches and deliberately comprehensive exercises in expectation-lowering. Tonight's launch of Channel 5's Ok! TV fell into the last category. The show it replaced, the justifiably maligned Live From Studio Five, was an inept mishmash that seemed to prove conclusively Channel 5 could not be trusted with another daily light entertainment show.

To make matters worse, the original host chose to extract herself from the show last week: Denise van Outen – narrator of The Only Way Is Essex and star of the forgotten 1999 Abba tribute album ABBAmania – apparently decided that Ok! TV would be an unconscionable blot on her CV. There may have been worse portents of quality than this, but not many.

The show itself exists to answer a question that nobody has ever asked: what would Ok! magazine be like if it was a Channel 5 television

Blunt Wants Oscar Glory For Firth And Bale
Actress Emily Blunt is backing fellow Brits Colin Firth and Christian Bale for Oscar glory at the Academy Awards ceremony later this month, because they "nailed" their performances.

The Devil Wears Prada star is convinced Firth is sure to walk away with a Best Actor trophy for his role in The King's Speech, and praises Bale's performance in gritty drama The Fighter.

She tells Britain's Live From Studio Five, "I think Colin should get it and I think he will, to be honest. I don't want to jinx it because that's not really kind of fair.

"But he deserves it, it was an extraordinary performance... and Christian Bale... (he) nailed it! So yeah I think those two guys are going to get it. I hope they get it."

Bale has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Denise Van Outen to host Channel 5's Ok! TV

Replacement for Live From Studio Five that launches on 14 February will also feature This Morning's Matt Johnson

Former Big Breakfast presenter Denise Van Outen will be one of the hosts of Channel 5's new celebrity magazine spin-off show, Ok! TV.

Van Outen, who was most recently a judge on BBC1's Andrew Lloyd Webber talent shows I'd Do Anything and Any Dream Will Do, and had a short-lived stint co-hosting the Capital Radio breakfast show, will present Ok! TV with Matt Johnson, a presenter on ITV1's This Morning.

A replacement for Channel 5's ill-fated Live From Studio Five, the programme promises a mix of "big name interviews, gossip and celebrity banter" which will "ensure no showbiz stone is left unturned".

The show will be produced by Sky News and air between 6.30pm and 7pm. It will launch on 14 February as part of a relaunch of the channel which will

Channel 5 axes 'Live From Studio Five'

Channel 5 axes 'Live From Studio Five'
Channel 5 will replace magazine show Live From Studio Five with Ok! TV next month, it has been revealed. Richard Desmond - who owns the broadcaster and Ok! magazine - is hoping the new teatime show will help boost ratings, reports The Guardian. Ok! TV will start on February 14 and is expected to be backed with a big marketing campaign across Desmond's newspapers, the Daily Star and the Daily Express. It is thought to be part of a large rebranding of the channel following Desmond's takeover last year. Live From Studio Five was launched in September 2009, but failed to impress critics or win huge ratings despite considerable levels of promotion. The original hosts were Apprentice star Kate Walsh, Melinda (more)

Finding Hole in the Crotch Before Live Performance, Nicole Scherzinger Went Frantic

Nicole Scherzinger was left frantically mending a stage costume moments before she was due to perform live on British television last week on November 28 after finding a hole in her trousers. The Pussycat Dolls star was due to perform her new single "Poison" on Simon Cowell's singing contest "The X Factor".

She flew into a frenzy minutes before her live set when she realized her outfit had a tear in the crotch - but she managed to fix the gaping rip just as her performance was being announced. She tells Britain's Live From Studio Five, "Right before I got on stage my crotch had a hole in it... and they're like, 'We've got three minutes and we're going live.' I was, like, 'You guys, there's a hole in my crotch! What am I going to do?' So they're like sewing my crotch hole up or whatever... and

Garson: 'Sex Stars Are Close Like Family'
Actor Willie Garson hates constant speculation the female stars of Sex And The City fought on-set - because the cast are like "family".

The leading actresses of the hit U.S. show have long faced reports they don't get on, with Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker often rumoured to be at the centre of a rift.

But their co-star Garson reveals the cast has grown so close during their time spent on the TV series and two subsequent movies, they're virtually like family.

He tells Britain's Live From Studio Five, "It's completely ridiculous. I mean, it's so ridiculous (the rift rumours).

"We've spent 15 years of our lives together literally through everything; marriages, divorces, births, deaths, everything. It's just a family."

Westlife Offer to Sing at Prince William's Wedding

Boy band Westlife are desperate to perform at British royal Prince William and his bride Kate Middleton's big wedding next year - because "every artist in the world" would want to perform at the high profile event. The couple announced wedding plans last week after revealing the romantic prince had proposed to his girlfriend in Kenya.

Westlife have now offered their services to the couple and admit they'd love to discuss performing a set list at the reception. Band member Shane Filan tells Britain's Live From Studio Five, "Every artist in the world would sing at that wedding."

Kian Egan adds, "We'd be honored to play at a royal wedding, that would be amazing. I mean, it would be dependent on what they would like... We'd let them choose the songs really, that's generally what we do if we sing at a wedding."

Timberlake Wary Of Awards Hype

  • WENN
Timberlake Wary Of Awards Hype
Justin Timberlake refuses to believe the Oscars buzz over his performance in The Social Network - insisting he's always held "low expectations" of award predictions.

The singer/actor has received rave reviews for his portrayal of Napster founder Sean Parker in the film, which shot to the top of the U.S. box office last weekend (01-03Oct10) with a gross of $23 million (£15.3 million).

Critics have tipped Timberlake to win an Academy Award for his role, but the 29 year old has brushed off the speculation.

He tells Britain's Live From Studio Five, "We paid for all of that (the buzz). (I have) low expectations. I make a whole career out of low expectations.

"If that is being said it must mean people like the film as a whole and that's the most you can hope for. In no way shape or form did I walk into this film trying to create a character that would facilitate something like that. All of the actors in the film give noteworthy performances."

Jls' Faces Are on Condom Boxes

British boy band Jls are launching their own range of condoms to promote safe sex. The "Everybody in Love" hitmakers have teamed up with bosses at contraceptive firm Durex to release their Just Love Safe brand, which features the pop stars' faces on each packet.

And the singers are hoping their safe-sex campaign will help prevent unplanned pregnancies and keep fans safe from sexually transmitted infections. Jls star Oritse Williams tells Britain's Live From Studio Five, "The stats show that (in) the United Kingdom, we have the highest rate of unplanned pregnancies and STIs compared to every other country throughout Europe. For us, we are in a great position to make a difference to our culture. People are influenced by us as a band and they listen to what we say."

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the condoms will be given to charity.
