In the courtroom, the grandfather is forced to use Cole/Chloe's preferred pronouns. A witness cannot be forced to use preferred pronouns in court. There is no law that requires witnesses to use the correct pronouns, and doing so could be considered a violation of their freedom of speech. The most a judge may do is instruct the witness to use the correct pronouns or risk having their testimony stricken from the record.
