Weinstein Company Is Filing for Bankruptcy After Sale Falls Through

Weinstein Company Is Filing for Bankruptcy After Sale Falls Through
Harvey Weinstein may have completely collapses his film studio The Weinstein Company with his sexual harassment charges. In a letter sent to potential buyers Ron Burkle and Maria Contreras-Sweet last night, The Weinstein Company announced its plans to file for bankruptcy after talks to sell the company for $500 million fell through. The company made it clear that they were in desperate need of operating cash to keep the business afloat, but it seems that Contreras-Sweet, Burkle and the Dallas-based private equity firm Lantern Asset Management weren't willing to provide interim funding to keep the business afloat until the deal closed. Here's an excerpt of the letter The Weinstein Company sent to the investors last night, after receiving the inadequate offer.

"We have believed in this Company and in the goals set forth by the Attorney General. Based on the events of the past week, however, we must conclude that your

Take a Magical Ride in the Latest Look at Mary Poppins Returns

Disney has released a new image from Mary Poppins Returns, which showcases a ton of the new cast members having themselves what appears to be a very fun time. Disney has been a hit-making machine in recent years, the likes of which Hollywood has never seen. While doing a remake of the classic Mary Poppins would be downright blasphemous, they're doing the more acceptable but equally risky thing by releasing a sequel this Christmas. This new photo offers us a glimpse of what's in store.

The photo features some of the younger cast members from the sequel, alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda's character and Emily Blunt, who has the very difficult task of living up to Julie Andrews' legacy in Mary Poppins Returns. That said, this photo, and everything we've seen and heard for that matter, points to Blunt being perfect for the role. Her co-star Ben Whishaw seems to think so,

Why People Are Comparing Meghan Markle to This Famous Socialite
As far as romances go, they don't get much more fairy-tale-like than this: Prince Harry, heir to the British throne, falls in love with American actress Meghan Markle and puts a ring on it. And while no one would ever likely describe Markle as "common," her nonroyal status does in fact make her the latest commoner to stake claim on Kensington Palace. But Markle is hardly the first woman to win the affections of a British prince (and she's not so much a "winner" as an accomplished actress, model, and humanitarian). If you paid attention in your high school British history class (or you saw the 2010 film The King's Speech), then you've likely heard the name Wallis Simpson. In 1931, the twice-divorced American socialite met Prince Edward, the Duke of Windsor. When he became king five years later, he refused to end their relationship despite opposition from outraged citizens expressing concern over Simpson's divorcee status.

‘Darkest Hour’ Review: Gary Oldman Gives Us a Fearsome, Oscar-Worthy Churchill

‘Darkest Hour’ Review: Gary Oldman Gives Us a Fearsome, Oscar-Worthy Churchill
Gary Oldman is one of the greatest actors on the planet – and he proves it again as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, director Joe Wright's rip-roaring take on the celebrated Prime Minister's first tumultuous month in office in May, 1940, when France and Belgium are a whisper away from surrendering to Hitler and Great Britain may be next. (How I'd love to see Oldman's take on the Fuhrer).

The British actor, 59, has played real people before, from Sid Vicious (Sid and Nancy) to Lee Harvey Oswald (JFK). But his Churchill is something different.

Colin Firth Gets Better With Age, and Here's the Proof
For three decades, Colin Firth has been wowing us on stage and screen. With a résumé that spans everything from period dramas to action films, he's proven that there is nothing he can't do (including tackling Abba songs in Mamma Mia). For his role in The King's Speech, he became the worthy recipient of an Oscar for best actor (to add to his trio of SAG Awards, his two BAFTA awards, and his Golden Globe). Not many men have played two Mr Darcy's quite so memorably, and Mr Firth definitely knows how to turn on the charm when it comes to his many outings as a romantic lead. Right now, he's on cinema screens as the impossibly dapper Harry Hart in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and he's never looked better. Don't believe us? Take a look back at his celebrity evolution, including some very memorable roles and red carpet appearances.
