Circa 1968, several strangers, most with a secret to bury, meet by chance at Lake Tahoe's El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one night, everyone will show their true colors - before everything goes to hell.
A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.
Production for Halloween 3-D was shut down on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 because The Weinstein Company ran out of money (and due to lack of interest from the public after the immense critical failure of the previous Halloween remakes). They had just received the first draft of the screenplay on Friday September 25 and shooting was supposed to start in November to end in time for Director Patrick Lussier to start shooting another film from a prior engagement in January, Drive Angry (2011) with Nicolas Cage. When Sheriff Hawkins enter the house on the domestic disturbance call, he yells out "Haddonfield Sheriff's Department". The patch on his jacket says "Warren County Sheriff". Haddonfield is an incorporated municipality and would not have a county sheriff patrolling but rather a police chief, as sheriffs are county level law enforcement and the municipal police would be the Haddonfield Police Dept.
