Great in almost all aspects
16 November 2017 | by OlicosmicSee all my reviews

When it to comes to drastic updates, this game is definitely no exception, as this may be the biggest overhaul of a Smackdown Vs. Raw game I've ever seen, with completely redesigned menus, more features, better game modes, better visuals, and better gameplay. Almost everything in this game is a complete upgrade from 2009, as it has all of the things that made 2009 great, while adding so much more. There is 1 or 2 very minor flaws in this game, but they don't impact this game whatsoever, as the pros outweigh the flaws by a landslide. Before I go into the flaws, I'm going to talk about the pros. One being the Creation Suite, as it is absolutely fantastic in this game, as it not only has all the same options as 2009, but this game now allows you to do so much more. One being the ability to finally use your created videos as custom Titantrons, which is something many people have been asking for a lot before this game was released. Another is the superstar threads, which is amazing, as it now let's you change the in-game wrestlers attire colors and save them as different attires. Last, but certainly not least, you can now make stories, which is probably one of the best features in a Creation Suite ever, as it lets you create many events and put em all together to make something truly remarkable. Another pro of this game is the even better Road To WrestleMania mode. While it plays relatively the same as 2009s version, it brings a lot more depth than its predecessor. You can also play as a custom superstar which is amazing. Another pro of this game is the all new rival/ally system, as it now brings a more immersive feel to the roster. All in all, this game is pretty amazing when it comes to updates, and is definitely a great game in the series. Of course, there's rarely a flawless game in the WWE games, and this certainly is no exception. However, the flaws in this game are so small that it's no where near enough to make this game any worse than great. One minor flaw is the roster and arena selection. The roster in this game is really good and so is the arena selection, but I feel like this game focuses way too much on the current WWE and not enough on the classics compared to previous games, as there are only a few legends and no classic arenas, which is not that big of a deal breaker whatsoever, but it can feel a bit empty to those wanting to play as classic superstars in classic arenas. Another minor flaw is the lack of an update to the career mode, as it's pretty much the exact same as 2009. The career mode in 2009 wasn't bad, but seeing how there's barely anything new in this game, it seems like this feature didn't seem to get a lot of effort put into it. At the end of the day, those flaws can still be looked over, as the roster and arena selection are still pretty good and the career mode is still a nice addition. All in all, I had a lot of fun with this game and I think this game is great in almost all aspects.

Pros: Amazing creation suite, Better visuals, Better Gameplay, Better Road To WrestleMania, Awesome Rival/Ally system

Cons: Roster and Arena selection focused solely on current WWE only, Career mode pretty much untouched
