Storyline

Gibbs, Tony, McGee, and Ducky investigate the death of a petty officer aboard a Naval vessel; later Tony and McGee screen potential replacements for Ziva; nobody in the gang has heard from Ziva, so Gibbs, Tony, McGee, and Abby all start sniffing and digging around; they trace her to a Jordanian cargo ship, which sank in a storm off the coast of Somalia, reportedly with no survivor. Tony urges Gibbs to stop Saleem, then the team makes a case to Gibbs and Vance, who reluctantly approves an "investigative" mission to Somalia, where (as a part of a plan) Saleem captures Tony and McGee, to whom Saleem administers a truth serum. Saleem also reunites Tony and McGee with Ziva, whom Saleem has tortured. Gibbs reverts to his sniper mode and gets out the three musketeers, then they all return to Washington, DC, where they, emotionally drained and thoroughly exhausted, receive a rousing welcome. Trivia

'Truth or Consequences' is the name of a city in New Mexico. It was named after a TV game show The New Truth and Consequences (1950). See more »

Goofs

Tony explains to Ziva that when he fails to report in word would be sent to a carrier group in the Mediterranean who would launch F-22 Raptors to destroy the terrorist camp (with them in it). The F-22 is a land based aircraft, which currently operates only from Air Force Bases in the continental United States, not from Naval Aircraft Carriers. It would be reasonable to expect Tony to know this, as he works for the Department of the Navy. See more »

Quotes

Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo: Abby Sciuto. Resident NCIS Forensic Specialist, heart and soul. A paradox wrapped in an oxymoron, smothered in contradiction. Sleeps in a coffin. Really the happiest Goth you'll ever meet.

A unique and enjoyable episode.
22 September 2009 | by SqueatsSee all my reviews

This show is so versatile! I love how they gave this season premiere episode it's own unique voice. (Made all the better in that the 'voice' belonged to -very- Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo.) They left us to hang over the summer hiatus, worrying for Ziva's safety, and this episode manages to extend and increase that worry. But as always, the team pulls together and manages to make things all work out. My one complaint is that there wasn't enough of Abby and Ducky, I know they're meant to be supporting characters, but nevertheless they add such depth and colour to the show. All in all, an excellent premiere episode, I can't wait to see more!
