Storyline

Matt Devlin takes it badly when his old friend and fellow cop,Pete Garvey is found dead,an apparent suicide. Garvey's widow says that he had recently been plagued by nightmares and was seeing Jonathan Nugent,a former priest and pillar of the community but in reality an undetected paedophile, who had molested Garvey and others when they were boys. The prosecution build their case on the fact that Nugent's abuse so unbalanced Garvey that he killed himself as a result but Nugent's claim that Garvey was blackmailing him tips the jury on his side and Steel must do a deal with the Catholic church if he is to get a conviction. I lost an entire decade in cheap whiskey. Luckily, it was the eighties.

Two coppers (Irfan Hussein and Martha Cope) answered a call made by bystanders who had heard a gun fire in the park. After getting in the park, they found out a dead body shot in the skull. He happened to be a Vice police officer, very close to Devlin since his infancy. Brooks had to keep an eye on his partner, because he was too emotionally involved in this murder; things get worse when detectives realize that the man committed suicide and the crime scene was tampered by cops in order to allow his family (made up of a supportive wife and two sons) to maintain pension right. But someone, related to the past of both fellow detectives, come into the light. They're both altar boys and their childhood priest (who left the church in the meantime) had some skeleton hidden in the wardrobe.

Another episode that displays child abuse made inside the parish. This kind of things could troubled people's mind even after two or three decades, because thirty years ago pedophilia was secretly tolerated and nobody could speak openly about it (being raised up in the ultimate catholic country I know what I'm talking about)
