- Live action and animation are combined to present examples of animals with similar traits.
- Join Henry The Gecko Lizard along with his best friend Crab Tuesday and his unseen voice over co-star Narrator as he takes a big journey through the world of amazing animals and takes some tips for his life and discovers crazy unexpected animal surprises.
- The opening of each episode begins with a silver box floating around a black space, glowing images of animal-shaped symbols appear flashing on the box and lock (shaped like Henry) unlocks itself. the box then opens up to reveal a white transparent space full of real animals, and some cartoon animals on the title. Henry then appears and climbs aboard the title and smiles, before looking up, fainting and falling off.
each episode begins with Henry the Gecko, in CGI-animated sections. Henry is doing some kind of activity or work, sometimes with his friend Crab Tuesday, then the unnamed unseen straight man Narrator interrupts and tries to give him tips for it. then there are live-action documentary video sequences with real animals and voice-over narration by the Narrator giving Henry tips from real animal facts. then there are cartoon sections with recurring unnamed cartoon animals.
there are also two recurring segments, "Henry's Special Report" and "Henry's Amazing Golden Gecko Awards". "Henry's Special Report" is usually a sort of speech, story, theory or explanation related to the episode's topic that Henry gives and narrates. early episodes depicted it as a school report, though in later episodes it is changed to a news report. in either case, due to Henry's immature behavior and lack of facts on animals and knowledge, it is almost always wildly inaccurate. the correct information is given by the Narrator after the report. the most accurate report was his report on gibbons in "Amazing Monkeys and Apes", the Narrator said he actually started off pretty good. the least accurate report was his report on salamanders in "Amazing Animal Colours", the Narrator said it had to be the worst report ever and punished Henry by making him stay behind after the show.
"Henry's Amazing Golden Gecko Awards" is a sort of academy awards prize show, Henry picks three animals related to the episode's topic and presents them with academy award prizes called "The Golden Geckos". early episodes depicted them as colourful gold stars, though in later episodes, they are changed to gold trophy statues of Henry. unlike the report, it is more accurate and correct. Henry does all the Narration and gets angry at the Narrator for interrupting, the Narrator also does not let Henry pick himself (as he has attempted to in one episode). the report featured in every episode, the only episode that did not have The Golden Gecko Awards was "Amazing Underground Animals", probably because of the timing issues.
at the end of each episode, Henry learns a lesson about the amazing animals of the world, then Henry says "bye!" and the credits roll.
