Storyline

U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is a modern day nineteenth century-style lawman, enforcing his brand of justice in a way that puts a target on his back with criminals, and places him at odds with his bosses in the Marshal service. That conflict results in a reassignment for Givens to the U.S. District covering the town where he grew up. He is an anachronism, a tough, soft-spoken gentleman who finds his quarry fascinating, but never gives an inch. Dig under his placid skin and you'll find an angry man who grew up hard in rural Kentucky, with an outlaw father, who knows a lot more about who he doesn't want to be than who he really is. Trivia

In Pronto (1997) James Le Gros played Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, also wearing a bright-colored Stetson hat. The Pronto hat has a wider, more dramatically curved brim, and is quite a bit brighter in color than the Justified hat. It also doesn't feature the hand-tooled leather band that the Justified hat does, instead opting for a band made of the same colored material, from which the hat is made. The hat used in this show is now called the "Stetson Marshall". It sports a four and one-fourth inch cattleman crown, a much less dramatic brim, and comes in a subtle "Ranch tan" colored wool. Leonard Elmore expressed some trepidation with the hat this show used, describing the hat he wrote as "the Dallas Businessman Special, a felt city cowboy hat called the Stetson Open Road, accept no substitutions." Goofs

On multiple occasions, Raylan and the Marshals become involved in criminal activities which would either be the purview of local and state law enforcement or some other branch of the Department of Justice. See more »

Quotes

Tim Gutterson: No admission, huh? Did you try flirting?
Raylan Givens: He was immune to my charms.
Chief Deputy Art Mullen: Said Heroes only.
Tim Gutterson: Oh ok. You show them your ass wound?
Chief Deputy Art Mullen: Well, I didn't think it was that kind of evening.
Tim Gutterson: Evening soldier. Uh, I didn't bring my cape. I'm guessing this will suffice.

Once upon a time in Kentucky...
15 May 2015 | by deloudelouvainSee all my reviews

I just finished the whole series and I enjoyed every single one of the episodes from all seasons. This is an underrated series that deserves much more people to know about it. I'm normally not a big fan of Kentucky accent but in this show it's just great. The conversations between the actors are also excellent. I just love the way they talk in Justified. The actors are all top notch, can't really fail anybody on this show. Walton Goggins (as Boyd Crowder) and Timothy Olyphant (as Raylan Givens)are definitely the two actors that carry this series to a higher level. Their eternal battle against each other is a pleasure for the eye and ear. The story is well written, you never get bored for a second. I certainly will watch Justified again in the future.
