David Smith lost about 2 thirds of his weight going from 650 to 220. Excellent job , with the help of young Chris Powell as his personal trainer. David had support without laying out money. Which is fine.He had free surgery to remove flab , free dental and free eye care. Again thats all well and good. He did what needed to be done to lose 400 plus lbs naturally in about a 3 year span. I just felt this story besides being done many times became a bragfest. Mr. Smith kept going over and over and over and anointing himself as a 'role model'. This had too much of an egocentric feel to me , including the emotional ploy about his childhood. I will not divulge here. It seemed more of an Oprah story. This show highlighted Davids transition into the real world... Including dating programs and parties and night clubs etc. It had that reality show feel and thus many times came across as unnatural. Of course, David was looking for meaningful sex with a meaningful lady in a meaningful relationship. Too contrived for me. Maybe David Smith is a better person than I am . Truth be told, I would probably have sexual relations with the first woman that would oblige. If for nothing else but curiosity. This was still a heartwarming story and worth a watch. If you can get past David Smiths smugness , it is an interesting journey to see his evolvement as a human being in the outside world
