I went into watching this movie without any idea what it was about and enjoyed every minute. Has a very Blair Witch Project found footage feel but with a Sci-Fi take in the mix. Stars 2 extremely brilliant actresses, firstly Laura Ellen Wilson who is such a talented star in my opinion (I may be biased as I know her in real life as well) but I've enjoyed every movies she has been in and this one is no exception and Laura Saxon, who not only play best friends in the movie but a great friends in reality which helps the pair act together very well. Great movie all around and a great director.19/10.
Project Skyquake is filmed in the "lost footage" style that was popularized by Blair Witch Project. I've followed the work of József Gallai on previous movies and he never disappoints. He is an amazing writer and director and has a great eye for compelling storylines.
This movie takes the real world phenomenon of "skyquakes" (go ahead and Google it; fascinating stuff) and puts a compelling sci-fi twist on it by creatively offering a possible fictional explanation.
The mystery and tension builds with some impressive dialogue driven plot by the two main protagonists played by Laura Saxon & Laura Ellen Wilson. The chemistry between them is impressive and makes for a compelling mystery that pulls in the viewer. I would be very surprised if they don't get some kind of award for their performance.
I would have easily given this movie 10 stars except for a couple of points. First, the plot took a slightly religious turn that seemed unnecessary given the previous setup. There were also a couple of spots during the movie where it was not clear why the two lead actresses had chosen to take certain actions. That being said, the character development was phenomenal and good use was made of Tom Sizemore and Robert LaSardo in support roles to strengthen the mystery that the two main protagonists were attempting to solve.
All in all, well worth checking it out if you see it doing the film festival circuit or if you have the option to rent or purchase it. You'll thank yourself later!

Those huge blasts of sound heard from the sky years ago and posted all over the internet intrigued and frightened people all over the world. It's a subject that could make a great movie. Lots of folks have been waiting for something like this. Unfortunately, Project Skyquake doesn't fulfill our wishes.
Another amateur/found footage flick with a minuscule bit of real actors just bored me. I want some real scientific explanation along with excitement, action or at least scares.
The last 5 or 6 minutes are creepy in a sort of alien way. That's it. Not enough scares, weirdness, or real sci-fi to suit any intelligent person.

This is a genre that I call "Spi-Fi" for Spiritual Fiction. Based on an inauthentic book according to New Testament scholars including Ehrman, "Revelations", this false prophecy of "end times" is once again recycled into a cheap thriller, brought to us seemingly by the "Blair Witch" people. The conversations, car rides, and house tour are pure time fillers. Most often I abide the full length of a movie before reviewing, but since we have all seen this format before, and all know the supposed plot, I found the 10-second forward button very useful. In sum, the "everyone is a journalist" approach to movie-making is a trending disaster contributing to the dumbing down of people who catch a glimpse out their window between virtual experiences.
