Contains everything you'd expect from a great comedy series. It's funny, raw and has the right amount of drama played out by a terrific cast. The show can even be surprisingly educational at times. The first episode has a bit too many introductions, but from the second episode it really takes off. The first season closes with two beautiful last episodes.
Because of the theme you might expect some raunchy show with loads of sex, but the show turns out to be more of a celebration of our true desires and fantasies rather than just people honking each other.
!!! SPOILERS !!!: Very curious how the second season would play out. It seems like the brothers will build up their business again, this time even internationally, while Marly runs the Dutch division. A lot of plot lines are still open. How serious is the relationship between Marly and Frank going to be after the tease at the end of the first season? Will Ramon really stay with Natasha and crush Alexander? Will Natasha give birth to Frank's child and keep it a secret? And what's going be the deal with Janna and Mischa? Hopefully we'll get to know a bit more about Ronny and Nina as well.
Capitalism was in full effect in the 90's so perhaps things could even get bigger and messier next season. I visited Amsterdam in the 90's and at that time it named The Gay Capital of Europe. In 98' The Gay Olympics were held there and everyone was just so ecstatic and liberated. It was a beautiful time in Amsterdam. Not much later The Netherlands became the first country to legalise gay marriage.
