Storyline

Born upon the shores of the surface world, Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) discovers that he is only half human, with the other half of his blood being of Atlanteean descent, thus making him the rightful heir to the throne of the undersea kingdom of Atlantis. However, Arthur learns that Atlantis is being ruled by his malicious half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson), who seeks to unite the seven underwater kingdoms and wage war upon the surface. With aid from Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe) and the gorgeous Mera (Amber Heard), Arthur must discover the full potential of his true destiny and become Aquaman in order to save Atlantis and the surface from Orm's evil plot. Trivia

Dolph Lundgren found filming uncomfortable because his gear as King Nereus (wig, beard, helmet, three levels of armor) made him feel claustrophobic and additionally he had to ride harnesses for the underwater scenes, which cut into his groin. Despite this, Lundgren enjoyed filming and would have appeared in the film for free, finding it a novel experience. See more »

Goofs

When the Russian submarine is hijacked the pirate craft moors itself near the bow, presumably over or very close to the forward escape hatch. The majority of the submarine crew block themselves into the torpedo room, which is directly under the forward escape hatch. The pirates would have needed to go through the torpedo room to reach the command center. See more »

Quotes

Arthur Curry: [narrates] Jules Verne once wrote: "Put two ships in the open sea, without wind or tide... they will come together". That's how my parents met: like two ships destined for each other.

Is it just me?

What's with the 10 out of 10 reviews? really?. Sure it's probably the best (or second best) DC Justice league era, but that's not difficult. Like all the other offerings, it's overblown, wooden, one dimensional and over reliant on over the top CGI. As a child I was always a DC fan and I want them more than anything to bring this thing together, but Marvel have certainly laid down a tough marker for how it should be and DC still haven't met that challenge. The main thing missing from the film is charm and simplicity, sure Momoa just about saves the day and I think he can develop Aquaman into a loved character, and the film is a step in the right direction. But 10 out of 10 it most certainly isn't.
