In a GQ interview, actress/writer/director Katie Aselton admits the movie has a cheap low-budget look to it, because she used one of the cheaper cameras she could get. Adele Romanski, Katie and her husband Mark Duplass funded the movie themselves. It was Katie's directorial debut, two years before Black Rock (2012).
