Fans of the Princess Switch will no doubt enjoy this third installment of the Netflix movie series. All in all, it is a fun and entertaining movie, with a couple of heartfelt moments, sprinkled here and there. This Christmas, when the Star of Peace (a priceless Christmas relic on loan from the Church) is stolen, Queen Margaret and Princess Stacy enlist the help of Margaret's infamous cousin Fiona (all three played by Vanessa Hudgens) to help steal the Star back. Fiona in turn recruits her former friend Peter (played by Remy Hii), who owns a private security firm, to help the team in their Mission Impossible-like heist. Indeed, this one has a bit of a Mission Impossible and Entrapment (the one with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones) feel to it. The script, I thought, was well written, in line with the other movies in the Princess Switch series. The dialogue was amusing at times, with several funny one-liners by Fiona such as No worries, royal six-pack; How's my fave cuzzie-in-law; Am I late for brekkie; Don't you trust me Royal boo; Pay attention, Betty Crocker. The writers also developed a backstory for Fiona in this one, which comes full circle at the end with a couple of touching scenes between Fiona and her mother, and Fiona and Peter. I might even have shed a tear or two. And, of course, it would not be the Princess Switch without another switch this time around. What makes this all work on screen is the acting. Hudgens's performance, in her multiple roles, again was brilliant. And the performances of the supporting cast, the Princess Switch regulars, were also very good this time around. The film also had a great Christmas vibe to it, with a nice soundtrack to boot. I can't forget Fiona's outrageous getup and flashy style. There was even some sexy tango in this one. May I have a Candy cane Martini, please? They look yummy. Overall, though a bit silly at times, I found myself taken in by the film. This is an entertaining new edition to the Princess Switch series and Netflix's Christmas movie line-up this season. Fans will no doubt enjoy it.

Star switching

The Princess Switch was a standard romance comedy that felt like a Hallmark movie
The Princess Switch 2: Switched Again wasn't needed, they added a villain involving kidnapping one of the characters and other stuff to build up drama.
The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star was interesting because the series went from a romance comedy to a christmas heist movie with drama.
I'm not going to judge Vanessa Hudgens for her performance of the 3 main characters, she is trying to make it watchable and entertaining.
The heist part of the movie where they are trying to steal back the star for the special ceremony was pretty interesting to see, also it had some scenes that worked but didn't really suck me in.
The drama between Fiona's old friend was a pointless side plot to connect with the main plot, but it was here probably because they were giving her a redemption after the 2nd movie.
This was just like the other 2 movies. It was standard but I will give credit for changing it up a bit with the same concept of the films.

Full marks to Vanessa Hudgens

It is the third film in 'The Princess Switch' series, featuring Vanessa Hudgens in triple role like it's prequel.
But herein, even Fiona shows her humane side.
It's not easy to skillfully play triple role in a movie while maintaining clear distinction between all the three roles, but Vanessa manages to do that.
In fact in some scenes, Margaret and Stacy are required to play Fiona and even that distinction is clear!
It's a happy movie with high dose of fashion.

A fun and heartwarming trilogy

The Princess Switch dramas are fun and heartwarming. In this third installment, Fiona Pembroke, Duchess Margaret's bad-ass relation takes center stage as she undertakes a heist to help her cousin. Her backstory explains why she turned out the way she did. With a prince charming waiting in the wings for her to grow up, and two doppelgangers she can count on standing by her side, Fiona's rise from the ashes is an entertaining watch.
Not Great but Better than 1 and 2

This film had much better storytelling than the first two. It had more of a warmth and an actually structure to it.
The acting and writing were still as bizarre as always and I feel like either the actors couldn't film or they just didn't need them because some of the characters will disappear from the movie and then just turn up at the end.
I do think this is slightly more cliche than the other ones. It Has more lines that feel like they were ripped from over movies.

The third film in the series is the worst but it's still a lot of fun. The plot is stretched and it's over the top oceans 11 but it's fun. The characters are over the top and fun but it's a lot of fun. The princess switch films are my favourite part of Christmas and I'll be watching it every year and I hope they make more.
This franchise gets better and better

Vanessa Hudgens is simply incredible - so versatile and perfectly executes 3 distinct character. These movies are the epitome of silly cheesy fun: That is the intention. Have some respect and do not review it if you are too inflexible to review a film according to its genre and intention. This film looks beautiful, is fun and zany with an extra dose of end of year warmth and the power of family. Much can be achieved when we tackle a problem together. There is absolutely nothing to criticise. Only hoping there will be more films in the franchise.
It was nice

I had a good time. It was heartwarming and a bit deeper than the previous movies when it comes to character study. I didn't like Pemmie in the second movie, but here, you get to know her more and you understand why she's the way she is. The heist concept also makes you want to watch it more. Overall, I suggest you watch it to have a nice time :)
Love it

Two's Company, Three...Felt Unnecessary
koltonbrett25 December 2021
A third Princess Switch movie was unexpected and felt unnecessary. By now, there is an obvious struggle to keep the whole "lookalikes switching places" scenario feeling fresh. This becomes apparent as this story takes too long to get interesting. I even felt the lookalike illusion beginning to break as the three Vanessa Hudgens characters started feeling more like the same person. This third movie focuses very much on the newer lookalike introduced in the previous movie. This character isn't as charming as the first two lookalikes but she gets a sweet little romance story as she learns how to deal with past hurt. It's nice when this story becomes sentimental because the humor was falling flat and the build up to the climax wasn't drawing me in. Perhaps a big problem here is that the main characters that we've enjoyed from the first two movies take a back seat in this one.
Just a feel-good Christmas movie :)

Don't expect that you'll get a thoroughly well thought story out of any Christmas movie. So on that note, this is just another lighthearted movie from the Princess switch series. It's fun to watch and gets us right in the Christmas feelings.
Vanessa's acting is top notch. Playing three totally different characters exquisitely speaks volumes on her acting skills.
Another movie to watch with Christmas just around the corner. Corny but lovely. A must watch for all the Christmas lovers!

My daughter and I love these films, never fail to make you smile and giggle. Certainly not to be over analysed as does not take itself seriously at all. Beautiful to watch and I adore the USA's obsession with royalty.

What a waste of a lovely night. If you are looking for a snooze fest, The Princess Switch 3 delivers. While I get the previous 2 movies, weren't that grand or amazing, they felt Christmassy and that was enough. But a romantic Christmas heist? Maybe shooting during the early pandemic phase and releasing before Christmas led to its immense quality drop.
There's either too little or too much going on, with too many characters stuffed in, each of the Vanessa's did not get their adequate screen time. I love a light-hearted movie that evades logic, but even Hallmark does a better job than this. Princess Switch 3 could be something you play on the screen during the holiday season as background noise with carols and picturesque holiday decoration that's worth a glance.
Maybe they'll add another Vanessa in the 4th sequel and they'll all be part of the Princess Switch Universe with their individual backstories, timelines, crossovers, and spin-offs.

Warning: Spoilers
The Princess Switch 3 is the prequel to the 2020 film of the same name and this time Margaret and Stacy have to get help from Fiona to retrieve the missing star that got stolen.
If you liked Entrapment (you know the film with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones) and the other Princess Switch films than do check it out.

Time to switch it off

I enjoyed the first Princess Switch, the second one not so much and the third feels like the trilogy has run it's course. More of a spy kids like action movie than a holiday classic, the plot focuses on the least interesting of the three characters, Fiona, and her ability to steal back a priceless tree topper before the Christmas festival begins. I think the kiddos will like this one more than the adults.
So good!

This third one should've just introduced a fourth sister

If you watched the first two, then it doesn't hurt to watch this one, BUT
I don't recall the first two being this wacky; this film lacks the substance the other two had. Focusing on a heist took away from the emotional appeal we experienced the first two go around. Additionally, just because the setting is around Christmas doesn't make it a Christmas movie!!!
The wackiness wasn't entertaining; the film lost its appeal. The first one was interesting, the second one gave us a twist. This third one should've just introduced a fourth doppelgänger because this plot wasn't engaging and seemed like a low-budget film with some fantastic Christmas decorations. Still, it just didn't make sense to me!
Verdict: It doesn't hold much substance. If you watched the first two, then why not watch this one. If anything, this installment is the worse of the three. I didn't like it.
Does it take me to paradise? Nope.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was totally unnecessary, and could only be enjoyed by fans of the original 2 movies.
The only thing I like about the movie is how they explored Fiona's character and her lovely romance story. Seriously the best among the three.
Nonetheless, this movie has no point at all.

as with the previous installments, it was what I expected

When I sat down to watch the first two installments in this series, I suspected that the movies would be typical innocuous stuff for tykes and tweens. I was right. I figured that "The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star" would be the same, and I was right. Basically, if you need something to keep the young ones entertained for an hour or two, these movies will do the trick.
I guess that it's ironic that Vanessa Hudgens is best known for family-friendly stuff, but the first movie in which I watched her was the gritty "Spring Breakers", about a bunch of college friends who get involved in criminal activity while on vacation. Whatever the case, I think that she still has the potential to be a good actress.
