I'm walking into this with a vague understanding that there's an internet-person named 'Markiplier', and Amazon wants me to watch this.
So far I'm intrigued. The psychedelic dream sequences are surreal and provide a lot of foreshadowing, suggesting a bigger arc to the series. The inciting incident is a bit random, but once the plot starts moving it doesn't slow down.
The acting and directing aren't particularly strong, but they aren't distractingly bad either. The editing, cinematography and effects departments do a lot of the visual work.
All in all, a pleasant surprise that has my attention. I'd like to see where 'The Edge of Sleep' goes.

I saw that the show was released earlier than it should have, so I decided to watch it. I love the story and the plot of this. I've never seen the podcast, so it makes me even more into the story. Me knowing Mark is working on his movie "Iron Lung," and wanting to do more things with movies/TV shows, I think his acting and movie skills are really impressive. Seeing Mark play a more serious and distinct character is different, but I love it. I can't wait to see what the other episodes hold. I can't wait to watch them. Even if you do or don't know Markiplier, I think anyone who likes a thriller and dramas like this would love to watch this.
Tittle says it all. The first episode had me hooked and by the end i was left with a craving for more! The characters are compelling, the storyline is gripping, and the twists keep you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds! The cinematography is stunning, and the soundtrack perfectly enhances the mood. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds and how Markiplirer develops his directing and acting. The dialogue is sharp and witty, making the characters feel incredibly real and relatable. I love how the show dives deep into complex themes while still managing to keep things entertaining. The world-building is impressive, pulling you into a rich and immersive setting. I can already tell that this is going to spark some great discussions among fans.
I wasn't aware of the podcast either, and I've been waiting for iron long. Mark is great but this had some... Flaws. The dialogue was just unnatural. Like, every POC is a token black guy?
The horror visuals are... Fine. It kinda seems like it's trying too hard to be scary so it's not working. But the surreal stuff is pretty- like the commercials and the radio.
Mark is clearly trying and it's much better than other YouTuber projects for sure, but it's not perfect. I'm interested to see where it's going. The first episode of shows like this are often weakened by exposition, so I'm hoping the rest of the series is better.

A warning to those who intend on "only watching an episode or two." If you need to go to get within the next couple of hours, wait. Wait until you have enough time to watch it all in one go. You won't want to fall asleep until you've watched every episode.
I initially thought I'd watch the first episode and then go to bed... I was mistaken. I got sucked in early in episode 1 and proceeded to watch all 6 of the currently available episodes without taking breaks. This show introduces itself with a couple of "regular" dudes playing hooky from work to go party, but quickly evolves into panic and terror and begins to twist with every turn as well as play with your heart. RIP to my sleep schedule. I'm not going to say too much more here incase you the reader of this comment have not started watching yet, but give it a shot, and remember... Don't fall asleep.
