A documentary biopic about Eric Kandel, Nobel Prize winner and one of the most important neural scientists of the 20th century.
Kandel's warm, colorful personality, along with the fascinating and important subject matter, provided the potential for a top-quality documentary - which the filmmaker realized to the full. Brilliant editing keeps things flowing while still leaving space for reflective moments. The science of memory is also cleverly interweaved into the tragic experiences of Kandel's family in Vienna during the Nazi era. One of the best science documentaries ever.
