Wolf to the Slaughter: Part Three
One of the reasons why the pacing is an issue. Time is spent on the family life of both Wexford and Burden.

I guess that it is to give them a rounded character, although Burden comes across as a little judgemental. Wexford is a bit more of a wise old owl.

Then there is the story of Drayton's infatuation with Linda Grover, despite Wexford telling him to be careful.

Wexford and Burden need to trace a gold lighter with an inscription. Hoping this would provide a clue but it leads to a dead end, well a dead accountant.
