On May 13, 2002, hog farm worker Daniel Lavigne was shot dead at his home in Rapelje, Montana. The murder shocked the peaceful community. Daniel lived about a mile away from the hog farm where he worked. In the end, Richard Edwards was arrested and convicted of Dan Lavigne's murder in June 2010. No true motive was ever established. Edwards received a sentence of 100 years in prison with no chance of parole for 50 years.
