199 reviews
The other reviews have already broke this film down pretty accurately but I wanted to throw my two cents in!
The acting was great, I was expecting a little over the top teens/drugs/bodies bodies bodies style acting but it felt pretty genuine.
I loved the concept - usually films with original concepts lose momentum quite quickly but they managed to keep the story interesting throughout the film's entirety.
My main qualm was feeling pretty confused about a few of the relationships, it's almost like the story needed more time and depth to have learned more about the original characters for us to really reap the benefits of the side stories. And it moves quickly requiring your full attention so me and my sluggish brain had to pause a couple of times to piece together the information I was receiving as it comes in thick and fast at times!
But all in all, it was great and I'd recommend it to other people for sure! Interesting cinematography, music and overall vibe.
More please! 🙏🏻

How broken is Gen-Z? It's What's Inside! As a stylistic device to caricature this, the film uses precisely the diseases that have afflicted this poor generation. Social media addiction, self-expression compulsion, luxury affinity, technology dependency. These poor kids, who are now grown up but will probably never be emotionally, are trapped in this world of fake bits and fake bytes. In terms of staging, this is really creatively realised; every scene more or less subtly shows the pretence in this existence. As the film progresses, it becomes difficult to follow the who-is-who, especially because the characters don't play favourites. Presumably they all remain strangers to the audience. At some point, however, there is a good trick for the danger of confusion. In general, the makers come up with all kinds of technical gimmicks to support their vision. Confusion? Yes, often, but the interesting bodyswitch theme also ensures that the suspense is maintained. It hasn't been seen like this before and that's where the film's achievement lies: inventiveness, freshness, creativity. Not the rule, neither in general nor especially with Netflix.

Go watch the movie without watching any trailers, or finding out how the concept works. That's how I did it, and I think it would make your expectations better.
The first act made me really interested. It had an original style, the concept was great and just unique overall. I think this movie totally delivered in the second and third act and they made the most out of the idea.
The movie was, in my opinion, crazy. It's just constant fear of whatever crazy thing might happen next. If you are expecting messed up horror, set your expectations low, because it's mainly psychological and brain scratching. I seriously needed a hot minute after watching this to process it all. Heck, I'm still not even sure I understood 100%.
The movie itself has great sound and soundtrack, and beautiful lighting that sets the tone perfectly. The acting is honest and good, it makes it all believable, which it really had to be.
Maybe the movie might be too hard to understand for some, which I would totally get. If you want a complicated but thrilling movie, go watch it. I think it was worth the watch.

I really wanted to like this one. It started out well enough; I even liked the mechanic they used (which I won't spoil here). As someone else said, it seemed like it was going to get pretty interesting pretty fast.
Instead, it got pretty eye-rollingly bad pretty fast.
The thing is, these friends all meet at this house for a night of fun, okay - but we really don't know them. And by not knowing them at all, we're really just not invested in what ends up happening. Sure, one of the couples is introduced early, only through a very particular lens. But everyone else? We're given hints, not much more. They're drawn quite flatly and broadly, and as an audience we aren't given enough to care about beyond surface level.
I think that what the film is trying to do here really requires us to be invested. It's kind of like we've agreed to go on a roller coaster ride with them, but before we can even say hello and exchange pleasantries, we're buckled in and shoved off for the next couple of hours. And the ride's way less fun than it thinks it is.
I gave up 35 minutes in. I'm a pretty avid watcher of all kinds of horror (I even thought that Bodies Bodies Bodies was fun) - but this one just didn't work for me.

Where to begin. Well, college chums meet up for a buddy's sendoff into marital bliss at his dead mother's home. But everyone seems to be harboring or hiding feelings about someone else in the group and a previous incident involving the entire group seems to be coming home to roost with sexually-charged Freaky Friday fun for all! This movie was crazy! Great performances by the cast. Even though we knew next to nothing about the characters, they still were able to make an impact even with the multiple personality changes throughout in the vein of Freaky Friday. If you like your movies with a different sort of cerebral verve to them, this is the one to check out.

All I want to say is to give this movie a chance. I don't want to spoil but it makes you think of what would you do in case you were in a such condition!
Of course as others wrote, you have to be full attention as it is getting confused in the middle before putting everything together towards the end.
If you like light thrillers with messed up situations then this movie is for you! I liked the soundtrack as well. Special mention to Alycia Carey which I loved here.
To summarize this movie is crazy , fun, messed up, with nice twists. It is good to watch for a Friday night..
After all it's what's inside to each one of us!

The concept is pretty good, some friends all converge to celebrate a wedding and one of them with a murky past brings a device that, shall we say, 'enhances', the evening. All reasonably sound. The problems for me were twofold. Firstly this is VERY American - not necessarily a bad thing, but some of the dialogue is just painful. I'm sure US college kids will totally relate but many others will not. Many, many words are used not really saying anything. Try it with English subtitiles on to see what I mean. Secondly, the concept necessarily lends itself to confusion, which does reign supreme. Some attempt to keep things clear with polaroids etc is made but the viewer has to keep a mental note of what is what and with so many characters, none of whom are particularly sympathetic, it's a real struggle.

It would work pretty well if the film had been extended by just 15 minutes and an alternate narrative style to properly introduce all characters to the audience and let their names/identities sink in. Required a second watch to remember who is who.
I watched this thinking it's going to be just another crappy teen/young adult B grade thriller wannabe, but pleasantly surprised. The concept caught my focus all the way till the end, though I did manage to guess who the perpetrator was eventually.
The 'experimental round' that gave the participants a taste of 'the game' and their reactions will undoubtedly draw the viewer in, get ready for a wild ride! :)
This gem is hard to come by on Netflix!

I went in knowing nothing and maybe it helped me appreciate it more as I had no expectations. It's quite original, well written, and the actors may not be big names but they're all doing a convincing job considering the premise. I personally liked the directing and editing choices as well, which fit the characters and this being a product of our time, but I can see why it could be polarizing to some people who might be irritated with the whole younger millennial vibe. While I think it will keep most people guessing until the end with all the twists, if you've watched a lot of similar movies you might be able to guess most of what is going to happen; but that should not prevent you from enjoying the crazy, delightfully confusing ride!
I really enjoyed the concept, and enjoyed how the ending was not picture perfect, it was as messed up as the characters were.
Honestly it kept me interested throughout the whole movie, and I liked how every aspect of the movie had some type of meaning.
I had no idea how the end was going to turn out so I really liked that, because I feel like with most pseudo mystery type shows you can kind of guess what is going to happen by the ending of it.
Overall enjoyable, loved the colors and visuals, and the actors did great! It must be super hard to play like 2-3 characters all in one movie. Great job Netflix!

... this movie does it. I must admit I got a bit lost at times but it was probably my fault; I have the bad habit of not paying much attention to the characters names, and in this case it does pay off. Well put together, nice pace, I can't really fault this film. Even using certain visual mechanics explored at the beginning to help the viewer is a intelligent touch. The actors do a very good job, considering they are all pretty boys and girls that I've never seen anywhere else. Forbes is the best character by far, I do know his face from somewhere else. All in all, it watched it knowing nothing about it and I had a fantastic time. What else can you ask for?

'It's What's Inside' set itself up really well. We meet some characters and learn they have some behind-the-scenes drama going on. Then we are introduced to an interesting mechanism that is going to drive the remainder of the film. At this point I thought I was in for something truly special. What I hadn't realised was that there were some problems that were going to hamper the film.
Firstly, it was going to get very confusing. I don't want to get into details because that would spoil the premise of the film. But anyone watching this film will know pretty quickly what I'm talking about in terms of confusion. I will say that while the middle of the film is very confusing, it does clear itself and become a bit more coherent towards the end. You still need to have your wits about you at all times though, that is for sure.
The other problems lie with the characters. There are two many of them and they are very toxic people who it is hard to care about and get onside with. I really feel like the movie could easily have cut 2-3 of the characters and nothing would have been lost. And as far as making them toxic, I understand that leads to more juicy drama, but sacrificing likability is a big thing.
All negatives aside, there is some really good stuff here. If you can stay on top of the story and follow along with all the story/character arcs, you are probably going to have a really good time, because it has some nice tricks up its sleeve at the end in that regard. It was an ambitious undertaking to make a film this complicated work, and all in all they did a pretty good job. 6/10.

A movie with a unique storyline or a mind-bending plot is always fascinating for viewers, as it offers something fresh and different. This one falls squarely into that category.
A group of college friends reunites for a pre-wedding celebration, where one of them brings along a mysterious game that allows them to switch bodies and guess who's inhabiting which body. The game takes a dark turn when secrets come to light, and their true colors are revealed.
The story sets the premise by introducing the characters in the first 20 minutes, then quickly dives into the main plot. Once the game begins, you're intrigued and hooked. The secrets, when revealed, feel logical and add to the suspense. However, as a viewer, you may find yourself confused by who is in whose body, making it difficult to keep track, which dampens the overall effect.
Each actor delivers a solid performance. The characters are well-written, making them relatable, as you may recognize similar personalities from real life. Alycia Debnam Carey, James Morosini, David W. Thompson, and Brittany O'Grady get the meatier roles and perform well.
Although the concept of body-swapping isn't new, the way it's handled here makes it unique and engaging. The suspenseful twist at the end will catch you off guard, as it's something you won't see coming.
While the confusion over who's who could have been minimized for a smoother experience, it's still a refreshing change from typical movies. With its short runtime, it's worth a watch for something different.

The film caught my attention with visually appealing imagery and a curious story. The twisting and turning of characters was clearly portrayed without being too detailed which may have been a challenge without clever touches. Although the ending was somewhat predictable and slightly cheesy, the majority of the storyline was windy enough to have kept me engaged. The acting was fairly subpar and if improved would have pushed the film from a YA-esque story to a more sophisticated thriller. Overall, the movie is a fun and entertaining watch and I would recommend it to others looking for a light but intresting movie.

It rarely happens, but I couldn't watch more than 20 minutes of this one.
The acting is just awful, really bad. It's tough to perform when the characters are shallow, unlikable, and the dialogue feels forced. Even so, a skilled actor can sometimes make it work.
The concept intrigued me, and I wanted to see more, but I just couldn't continue. It was frustrating because the plot had potential, and I hoped for something more engaging or at least somewhat redeemable in the performances.
Sadly, everything felt dull and lifeless. I kept waiting for it to improve, but it never did, leaving me completely disappointed and uninterested in finishing the film.
