James Wan reveals a third Annabelle is in development

As preview nights go at San Diego Comic-Con, James Wan made it one to get tongues wagging. The Conjuring filmmaker has announced that he will be gracing us with a third Annabelle.

Both Wan and It and Annabelle: Creation writer, Gary Dauberman made the announcement that the third film was currently in development. Dauberman will be returning to pen the script and will make his directorial debut with the picture.

This time around The Warrens will feature prominently in the film and this time, Annabella has her sights firmly set on the 10-year-old daughter of the paranormal investigators.

“I’m still finalizing the script, but it really picks up with the Warrens bringing Annabelle to the place where it can really no longer wreak havoc, which is their artefact room. But, of course, it turns out she can also wreak havoc there. And she really awakens the evil within that

Twisted sisters: why the film world loves nuns

From The Devils to Doubt, film-makers’ passion for holy havoc continues, as two very different movies called The Nun are released this summer

Some habits prove hard to kick. There are two films named The Nun out this summer: a gorgeous restoration of Jacques Rivette’s banned 1966 film starring Anna Karina, and a new prequel in The Conjuring franchise directed by Corin Hardy, in which demon nun Valak (Bonnie Aarons) from The Conjuring 2 torments the novice Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) in a Romanian abbey. Clearly, the convent exerts a special fascination on film-makers, because nuns, whether reluctant, rebellious, devout or possessed, have cropped up in many memorable, often controversial, movies.

Valak’s hellish reappearance is hardly designed to please church elders, but Rivette’s film, too, was initially banned in France, a decision that director Jean-Luc Godard likened to a “Gestapo of the mind”. It was released a couple of years later,

The Crow Remake Gets Completely Scrubbed from Sony's Schedule

The Crow Remake Gets Completely Scrubbed from Sony's Schedule
It may be time to finally give up on holding onto any hope whatsoever that The Crow remake is ever going to happen. Recently, both director Corin Hardy and Jason Momoa bailed on the project, which was getting very near production. This is the latest in a long series of setbacks for the movie, which just can't seem to catch a real break, despite a lot of people giving it a go over the years. Now, Sony has officially pulled The Crow from their release schedule, which may well be the final nail in the coffin, at least for a while.

The remake has been in the works for the better part of a decade, with the movie transferring to several different studios during that time period. There was some renewed hope when Sony stepped up in September 2017 to revive the project, with Jason Momoa attached to star. Unfortunately, the

21st Century Schizoid Man: "Unfriended" and New Tech Horror

For all the acclaim hounded on the arty, independently produced horror films of recent years, they are strangely lacking in scares, perhaps due to the distance between the films’ settings and reality. The Witch is a period piece; It Follows takes place in some indeterminate, homage-laden moment where people call each other on home phones even while reading The Idiot on seashell-shaped e-readers; the recent Hereditary has teens discussing others’ frequent Facebook status updates as if it were the late ‘00s but is conspicuously devoid of cell phones; and Ti West’s string of nostalgia-tinged slasher films borrow the settings of their influences. The list could go on, but what is clear is that the predominant impulses of such films are a shift from the sociological to the psychological and the earnest to the nostalgic and ironic. Reviews cite, often with an implicitly self-congratulatory astuteness, the “references” and “homages” to

Curse of La Llorona Shocks Comic-Con Crowd Into a Supernatural Frenzy

New Line Cinema brought the horror to San Diego Comic-Con last night with their second annual ScareDiego event. They promised some surprises ahead of the horror showcase and they didn't disappoint in that respect. One of the big surprises that generated some buzz coming out of the showcase was the upcoming horror movie The Curse of La Llorona, which was originally titled The Children. A good deal of footage was shown at the event and it looks like this could be one for horror fans to have on their radar in 2019.

The movie comes from director Michael Chaves with a script written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis. Chaves was on hand with producer James Wan, architect of The Conjuring universe, as well as stars Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, and Patricia Velasquez. The movie is based on real-life Latin folklore which, based on the movie's synopsis, sounds utterly horrifying. Here's

Everything We Saw From ‘It 2’ During New Line’s Scare Diego Comic-Con Presentation

The Warner Bros. label kicked off San Diego Comic-Con with its second annual Scare Diego, a panel so frightening a live cockroach skittered across the stage, terrifying both convention-goers and a horror mainstay, director James Wan.

New Line brought footage from three future films including “The Nun,” “The Curse of La Llorona,” and the film most fans were waiting with baited breath for, “It: Chapter Two.” Sadly, no one from the “It” sequel was in attendance at Comic-Con. However, a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the film’s current production was screened.

Returning director Andy Muschietti appeared on screen and dedicated a short reel of footage to the Scare Diego fanatics, promising that this film will be even more horrific than the last. “It’s gonna be scarier,” said Muschietti. “It’s gonna be a more intense experience, so bring your adult diapers to the theater.”

While the actual “It 2” goodies were kept under wraps,
