Storyline

Doug Glatt of Orangetown, Massachusetts is floundering in life, he having no real sense of where he fits - having a "thing" as he calls it. He doesn't have the book smarts to become a doctor like his adoptive father or his gay adoptive brother Ira. And he doesn't have the passion that his best friend Pat has for his self-appointed work, hosting a hockey based cable call-in show, Hot Ice. Because his fists and skull are figuratively like steel, Doug is good at the enforcement part of his job as a bouncer despite he having a naturally friendly childlike approach to dealing with people and situations. An incident involving Doug in the stands of an Orangetown Assassins minor league hockey game leads to its coach, Rollie Hortense, offering Doug a tryout with the team as its enforcer, the tryout regardless of the fact that Rollie has no idea if Doug even knows how to play ice hockey (which he doesn't). Learning just enough hockey skills, Doug makes the team. Rollie, however, quickly ... Written by Huggo

Doug Glatt: I'm sorry. I'm such a moron. So you saw my headbutt, huh?
Eva: [whispering] Yeah, you fucked him up.
Doug Glatt: Are you at the library?
Eva: No, um. My boyfriend got home a few days ago.
Doug Glatt: Why did you text me then?
Eva: I dig talking to you. And now I'm thinking about you. And sometimes I sleep with that Angus the Highlander doll.

28 February 2012 | by carney818-1See all my reviews

If you are looking for a realistic Hockey of Today Film. Then this ain't it. Are you looking for a FUN Hockey Film that might take some liberties? Then this is a Film for you. If you can suspend your knowledge of Ice Hockey, Yes even Minor League Hockey then this Film is a Blast.I thought it was The Best Hockey Film since Slapshot.Got some Good Acting,GREAT Fight Scenes and some Laughs too. If you are a REAL Hockey Fan you'll love it.Goon shows The Tough Side of Hockey and it's not so afraid to fight side. Yes there's Fighting in Hockey. Yes some players are hired on as Fighters. It's part of Hockey and Goon shows you this side of The Game..
