Sex & Nudity

  • Some monsters wear clothing, and some don't. The monsters without clothes, don't panic! No crotches, breasts, or privates are seen. It's a cartoon. Settle down folks! Nothing to worry about.

Violence & Gore

  • In order to be officially part of a fraternity, Mike and Sulley undergo hazing (being hit by a wooden plank). Although this scene is played for laughs and no blood or bruise is shown, younger children might question the nature of this initiation.
  • In the toxicity challenge, all of the monsters are WAY too swelled up, resembling allergic reactions, after touching toxic urchins.
  • The librarian tosses the loud monsters out of her library during "Avoid the parent".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Monsters scaring children and dummies are an important element of this film. None of them are particularly disturbing, most are even played for laughs, but the most important one near the end is made intense.
  • Mike and Sulley's goodbye to the OK team can be very emotional.
  • Some may find it upsetting when Mike finds out that Sully cheated the final scare game to help Mike.
