Continued momentum
The willful ignorance of simpsons 'fans' in regards to the modern seasons is just wild. They call for quality and when the show delivers they refuse to accept it.
Season 34 started strongly with Habeas Tortoise and that momentum continues here.
First and foremost the opening couch gag is simply incredible, one of my favourites of the whole show.
The main story is focused on Marge and her newfound obsession with her Pedalon/Peloton bike that Homer gets for her birthday and her subsequent infatuation with her instructor.
This obsession is very in characher for our stay at home Marge and we get some cute Marge moments and alot of jokes about Peloton.. i mean Pedalon and its community.
I think this plot does well remaining light and breezy, Homer's jealousy is understandable but we know its not all too serious. The writers make the right choice not to slip into a larger Homer/Marge relationship strife which is unwarranted.
Lisa's B plot revolves around her being mistakenly called up to jury duty despite her protests, whilst her story is rather surface level, we do get alot of light bureaucratic and courtroom humour. And a 2nd successive feature of Gill.
Lisa's plot could be funnier or have more of a developed story, maybe having her interact with the trial and crime, as the episode title suggests. Nonetheless its a perfectly quick and easy B plot.
What carries this episode most is the jokes though, they are constant and most deliver well. The visual humour is great with Marge's jacked legs and especially Moe with his lightswitch, which got a proper laugh.
Overall I view this episode as an entertaining shaggy dog tail, keeping light and breezy and a great chill watch. Also Julie Kavner does really well here trying to channel the voice of Marge of old.
