Howard the Duck almost made an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War

After popping up in Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, it turns out that Howard the Duck almost made his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe earlier this year, with Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealing to Fandom that he came close to making a cameo appearance in this year’s superhero epic.

Howard the Duck was in one draft of the script,” said Anthony. “Howard the Duck actually had a really good scene… we were going to cameo with [The Hangover and Community star] Ken Jeong, with Howard the Duck. That was a much-beloved scene by us but it just didn’t end up fitting at all.”

“It was Peter Quill trying to track down some information from Howard the Duck on some outlier planet and interrupting him during a poker game,” explained Joe.

“There were lots of ideas and iterations that were on the

Dan Harmon Leaves Twitter as Old Pedophilia Sketch Resurfaces (Video)

Dan Harmon Leaves Twitter as Old Pedophilia Sketch Resurfaces (Video)
“Rick and Morty” and “Community” creator Dan Harmon left Twitter as an old sketch emerged in which he plays a therapist who sexually assaults babies.

Some conservatives, most notably right-wing provocateur Mike Cernovich, fueled online outrage over the 2009 sketch “Daryl,” a parody of Showtime’s “Dexter.” The video resurfaced recently as part of a coordinated online campaign against left-leaning figures on Twitter. Last week, James Gunn lost his job directing the next “Guardians of the Galaxy” film after Cernovich and others flagged his old Twitter jokes about pedophilia and rape.

The conservatives pointing out the old jokes say that liberals should be held to the same standards as conservatives who are ousted over offensive remarks. But critics of the effort say there’s a difference between old jokes that were deliberately designed to offend and public statements made in apparent seriousness.

Yvette Nicole Brown Would "Love" to Play Felix's Cousin on General Hospital

Felix hasn’t had a whole lot to do these days on General Hospital, but portrayer Marc Anthony Samuel thinks he knows just how to change that when he played casting agent and suggested Yvette Nicole Brown play his cousin on the soap! Brown sparked the idea when she tweeted about her appearance on the second season premiere of The Gong Show, joking that she was completing her “week and a half tour of every ABC game show.” Samuel responded to that by suggesting: “I want you to repeat your daytime tour and play a family member of mine on Gh. Felix needs a visit from his cousin!” Brown quickly declared: “I’d love that!” Following that back and forth, Samuel looped in Gh executive producer Frank Valentini in the Twitter thread. “My friend Yvette Nicole Brown is a dynamic human being, fantastic actress, and would be an awesome relative to visit Felix at work,

Danny Pudi and Bobcat Goldthwait Explain Why ‘Misfits & Monsters’ Is Basically ‘Black Mirror’
Bobcat Goldthwait’s new TruTV anthology series “Misfits & Monsters” is all about mashups and playing with tropes, something you would 100 percent expect from the comic-turned director and producer.

But when Danny Pudi explained to TheWrap that his episode is “Enemy of the State” meets “Home Alone” (and that fellow series star Seth Green’s installment is “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” combined with “Cape Fear”) we felt like that sounded a little whacky — and we’re talking about Goldthwait here. And then Pudi described it as “‘Black Mirror’-ish.”

“Yeah, thats fine with me [laughs],” Goldthwait told us, coming in mid-interview during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour back in January, to hear that Pudi was pitching his show to TheWrap as Goldthwait’s version of Charlie Brooker’s Netflix series. “Compare it to that! I’d rather you compare it to that than something bad.”

Emmys 2018: ‘Mindhunter’ and ‘Killing Eve’ are dark horse contenders for Best Drama Writing

Emmys 2018: ‘Mindhunter’ and ‘Killing Eve’ are dark horse contenders for Best Drama Writing
Leave it to TV writers to come up with the best plot twists at the Emmys. The writers branch of the TV academy has given surprise nominations to underdog shows over the years that otherwise struggled to get on the radar, including “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “The Wire” and “Community,” among others.

Will the writing categories take us by surprise again once nominations are announced on July 12? Here are two dark horse contenders for Best Drama Writing I think we should watch out for this year:

Mindhunter” for “Episode 10,” written by Joe Penhall and Jennifer Haley

This episode, in which the show’s team of criminal profilers start to crack under pressure from an in-house FBI review, might be more likely to receive a directing nomination for David Fincher given his notoriety. He’s an Oscar nominee (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “The Social Network”) and

The Russo Brothers Are Directing Marvel’s Biggest Blockbusters, But They’re Modeling Their Career After Steven Soderbergh
Filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo may be the directors behind some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest blockbusters — including their most recent release, “Avengers: Infinity War,” which has made over $1 billion in global ticket sales after less than two weeks in release — but they still remember what it’s like to be indie outsiders hoping for a chance to break out. Twenty years ago, they got that chance, care of one of Hollywood’s most enduring and inventive auteurs.

“We can never forget that the pivotal moment in our careers as filmmakers came when we were just these obscure weirdo filmmakers from Cleveland making a movie that nobody really wanted to see, except for one guy: Steven Soderbergh,” Anthony said in a recent interview with IndieWire. “He appreciated something of value in it, which, by the way, almost nobody else did. He was the only person of any consequence that said,

Arrested Development Cameos Teased In Avengers: Infinity War
Micheal Bluth fighting Thanos to save the world? It could happen. While co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo are best known for their work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War, one of their first big projects in the industry was actually working on the Golden Globe-winning series Arrested Development. The Russo brothers directed a good number of the series' episodes, including the series' pilot. And it looks like there will be some nods to the show in the upcoming sequel.

In a recent interview with Andy McCarroll Movies, the Infinity War directors were asked whether or not we should expect to see anything from Arrested Development in the new Avengers movie. Glover left “Community” midway through the show’s fifth season in 2013, citing a need for more independent projects. This led to his own series, “Atlanta,” on FX, a comedy that has already won him two Emmys and two Golden Globes.

Glover’s musical performance on “SNL” will be one of his final big performances as Childish Gambino, as he revealed at last year’s Governors Ball Festival in New York that he will be retiring from hip-hop after one more album. His 2016 album “Awaken, My Love!” went gold in America and earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

Glover will play the famed smuggler Lando Calrissian in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” which will reveal how the future head of Cloud City first met Han Solo. Glover will also play Simba in the 2019 live-action remake of “The Lion King.”

Venom Movie Soundtrack Gets Black Panther Composer

Composer Ludwig Goransson is moving from one major comic book movie to another. Goransson recently composed the original score for Marvel's Black Panther, which isn't just the biggest hit of the year so far, but it's one of the biggest superhero movies ever. Now, Sony has tapped the Swedish composer to score the soundtrack for their upcoming Venom movie, which stars Tom Hardy in the titular role. Maybe a little bit of that Black Panther magic will rub off.

Venom will reunite Ludwig Goransson with director Ruben Fleischer, who directed Venom and is probably best known for his work on Zombieland. The two worked together previously on the 2011 comedy 30 Minutes or Less, which starred Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari. Goransson has also worked on movies like Death Wish and Central Intelligence, in addition to two previous collaborations with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, scoring both Fruitvale Station and Creed.
