A lone man, recently released from prison, seeks out the people from his past who he believes betrayed him. While he forces each to atone for their sins, he must also face what meting out vengeance will do to his immortal soul. Meanwhile, he's not the only one looking to settle old scores. Hired by the man responsible for the events which lead him to prison, an eccentric contract killer follows his every move. Scenes of them crossing paths, sometimes violently, are interspersed with the assassin's self-realizations of how to deal with struggles within his own life. As if old enemies and hired guns aren't enough, a young female detective begrudgingly works alongside a veteran investigator looking to simply survive his last two weeks on the force before retirement, as they seek out the brazen ex-con who has been blazing a path of gasoline-powered destruction in his vintage Chevelle.Written by
Much Better Than I Anticipated, A Solid Action/Drama
Watch this if...you enjoy fast paced action/drama movies that have twists and turns. I was pleasantly surprised with this film and would recommend to anyone looking for a good action/drama.
Acting/Casting: 7* - The Rock doesn't say much in this movie, which is a good thing. He can do what he does best, look and be intimidating. Billy Bob plays a washed up detective, which is also a good thing. He plays a washed individual very well anytime he plays the part. The supporting cast is solid as well.
Directing/Cinematography/Technical: 7* - This movie has a real nice feel and flow, which is a credit to its directing and technical aspects. There is a great car chase scene and the cinematography throughout is nice as well.
Plot/Characters: 7* - Your typical revenge story with some twists and turns. After being released from prison, the Rock is out to get anyone that had a role in his brother's death and his near death. The extreme characters raise this score a bit as I think they really add to the story and plot.
Entertainment Value: 7* - I really enjoyed this film and found it to be surprisingly better than I expected. I plan to purchase it soon and I would recommend to anyone who inquired about it.
My Score: 7+7+7+7 = 28/4 = 7.0
