Comics on Film: Disney CEO Confirms Marvel Studios' 'X-Men' Films, Internet Is Weirdly Surprised

Comics on Film has been keeping a very close eye on the unfolding saga concerning the Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which is of particular interest to comic book movie fans because of Fox's ownership over a few key Marvel Comics-based franchises, which include the X-Men, Deadpool and the Fantastic Four. As long as the tumultuous story has been unfolding, it's been easy for Marvel fans to get excited about the possibility of the Avengers and the X-Men occupying the same screen at the same time or Peter Parker and Tony Stark getting to pick the mammoth intellect of Reed Richards. It was inevitable for Disney to consolidate the properties of Marvel Comics under the guiding hand of the brand's film studio, but oddly enough, the internet...

Disney CEO Confirms Kevin Feige Will Take Charge Of The X-Men

It’s fair to say the most discussed element of Disney’s acquisition of Fox is that Marvel Studios will now have access to the X-Men, Deadpool and Fantastic Four, bringing just about every Marvel comics character under their jurisdiction. But just because they have access to these characters doesn’t mean that it’s confirmed that they’ll be folded into the McU. Or at least, it didn’t until now.

The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Disney’s CEO Bob Iger recently and put the question to him and, yes, he’s now revealed that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will take the X-Men and the Four under his wing once the leaves have settled and the acquisition deal’s finalized. While Iger didn’t say whether the various continuities would be merged, he did suggest so, as he commented there would no longer be “two Marvels.”

“I

Disney CEO Confirms Kevin Feige Will Oversee The X-men and Fantastic Four Properties

I know this may seem like obvious news, but some people have wondered if the Fox creative teams would continue to develop X-Men and Fantastic Four movies separately after Disney takes over. After all, there are a lot of X-Men films being planned and developed over at Fox.

Well, Disney CEO Bob Iger recently confirmed with THR that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will, in fact, be overseeing the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises when the deal closes. He explains:

"I think it only makes sense. I want to be careful here because of what's been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels."

Iger was then asked, "so Deadpool could become an Avenger?" To which He replied:

"Kevin's got a lot of ideas. I'm not suggesting that's one of them.

Disney CEO Weighs In On Deadpool Joining The Avengers

Wade Wilson is many things to many people – Deadpool, the Merc With a Mouth… you name it. But could he one day become the new recruit for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?

That very question was presented to Disney chief Bob Iger during his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, one in which he covered all manner of topic, including the company’s buzzworthy streaming service, James Gunn, and why the initial output of one Star Wars movie per year may have been a step too far. And so begins a “slowdown” that will likely take into effect after the launch of Episode IX next Christmas.

As for Deadpool’s chances of rubbing shoulders with the Avengers, it seems the fate of Wade Wilson currently rests in the hands of McU über-producer Kevin Feige, with Iger revealing that:

Kevin [Feige]’s got a lot of ideas. I’m not suggesting that’s one of them.

Remember that time we posted that rumor about Michael Bay and Ryan Reynold’s upcoming 6 Underground Netflix film was actually ThunderCats? Yeah, that was a crazy rumor that was quickly debunked.

Anyway, 6 Underground is currently in production and Reynolds recently shared a fun little video from the set where he talks about the what the best part is about shooting a film with Michael Bay.

Ryan Reynolds Discusses the "Stillness" on Set of His Movie . . . While Cars Crash Behind Him

Ryan Reynolds is currently in Italy filming 6 Underground, which is said to be Netflix's most expensive movie to date. With director Michael Bay at the helm, it should come as no surprise that the movie goes big when it comes to action, but on Wednesday, Ryan shared a video of a quiet moment on set. In his usual deadpan style, the actor leans against the wall as he explains how much he's enjoying "the stillness" of working with Bay, before he is, um, interrupted by a scene being filmed in the background.

Though we know very little about the plot of the movie, which also stars Dave Franco, Mélanie Laurent, Adria Arjona, and Ben Hardy, it seems like Ryan is taking a Deadpool-esque approach to his covert promotion. We're pretty sure this isn't the last fun video we'll see before the movie hits Netflix in 2019.

Ryan Reynolds Previews Explosive Stunt in Michael Bay Movie (Watch)
Ryan Reynolds was unfazed during his latest interview when an exploding car flipped over a white van behind him.

The car stunt was part of Michael Bay’s new film “6 Underground,” but that didn’t stop Reynolds from hijacking the scene for his latest Twitter joke. “Best part about shooting with Michael Bay? I don’t know, a lot of people would probably say the action, but for me it’s the stillness. It’s those quiet moments,” Reynolds said as the car exploded behind him.

Watch: Ryan Reynolds Shares an Explosive Behind-the-Scenes Video from ‘6 Underground’

Not a ton of info is out there about 6 Underground, Netflix's upcoming Michael Bay flick starring Ryan Reynolds. We know the script comes from Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, that it's currently filming for a 2019 release date, and that it's either about a group of billionaires forming an underground hit squad or it's secretly a Thundercats movie. Either way, Reynolds took to Twitter today to confirm the one piece of information we could have already bet money on: This Michael Bay film features a few extraordinarily loud explosions and at least one …

‘6 Underground’: Ryan Reynolds Enjoys “The Quiet Moments” On Set Of Michael Bay Action Pic
Ryan Reynolds posted a behind-the-scenes video of Michael Bay’s upcoming 6 Underground on Twitter. Bay has a track record for wildly explosive action sequences, but for Reynolds, he enjoys shooting with the director for other reasons.

“For me, it’s the stillness…it’s the quiet moments,” says Reynolds about working with the man who brought the frenetic action-packed adaptation of Transformers to the big screen.

As the Deadpool actor enjoys an intimate moment, he is unfazed by a crazy, off-the-rails car crash and explosion behind him. When the dust settles, Reynolds can be heard again talking about feelings and getting “lost in a character’s eyes” while making a Michael Bay film.

The plot details on 6 Underground have been kept under wraps, but what we do know is that Reynolds will reunite with Deadpool executive producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The big-budget movie also stars Mélanie Laurent

Ryan Reynolds Previews Large Stunt in Michael Bay Film With Joke Interview

Ryan Reynolds Previews Large Stunt in Michael Bay Film With Joke Interview
Ryan Reynolds gave an insightful, short (joke) interview Wednesday concerning his favorite part of working on a Michael Bay picture. His answer: the quiet and stillness.

Of course, as he was speaking, a huge stunt was unfolding right behind him on the set of 6 Underground.

The Deadpool star's wit and sense of humor are well-documented, so it makes sense that to promote 6 Underground, his upcoming Netflix project with Bay at the helm, Reynolds would have something funny ready to go.

The video is less than 30 seconds in length, but the stunt is impressive and hilarious ...

18 Superhero Solo Movies Currently In Development (And 12 Possibilities)

Isn't it amazing that we're finally living in a time when we get to see our favorite superheroes interacting with each other on the big screen? Even though not every team-up is a huge success, it's still an amazing step forward from what fans have had in the past.

Remember when Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man all had their own movie series to worry about and fans could only dream they would one day meet? Thankfully, those days are over.

However, when comparing the superhero ensemble films from today with the solo outings from the past, fans are sometimes shocked to see just how well the older, single hero-driven films hold up - and this doesn't just apply for 20th century classics like Superman: The Movie and Batman, but also recent films, including Iron Man, Deadpool, and Black Panther.

Sure, other heroes may make appearances and the main hero sometimes has

10 Marvel Movies That Completely Flopped (And 10 That Became Massive Hits)

Marvel movies have become some of the most dominant forces at the box office over the past decade, with a good portion of their success being credited to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, even non-mcu Marvel movies tend to leave some sort of mark at the box office, such as the Deadpool franchise and a few other X-Men movies.

Though Marvel is currently at the height of its popularity in cinema, movies have been made based on Marvel comics for decades, with the first Marvel movie being made back in 1944, back when Marvel was known as Timely Comics.

Unfortunately, the longevity of Marvel and the current success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe does not necessarily mean that every Marvel movie ever produced has been a big hit. A number of Marvel movies were met with bad reviews, whereas a large number of others ultimately became total flops at the box office.

Sources Say Venom’s PG-13 So Sequels Can Crossover With Spider-Man

Despite the upcoming Venom movie seemingly having no connection with Spider-Man, I think it’s best that fans take a chill pill before continuing their incessant complaining. Really, after witnessing one badass trailer after another, I pose the following question: Have you ever stopped to consider that it just might be a good film?

For the longest time, we anticipated that the flick would be granted an R-rating similar to Deadpool and Logan, but some surprise came when the studio confirmed that the Tom Hardy-led picture had been stamped with a PG-13. Then again, many productions since the arrival of Alien vs. Predator have shown us the softer rating doesn’t necessarily mean there’ll be much less in the way of violence.

Now, Fandango managing editor Erik Davis is shedding more light on the situation with the following Tweet:

“Hearing from studio sources the reason is so that
