Quotes

Chester A. Riley: Gee, Gillis, you're brave - making out you're happy when all the time, inside, you've got a broken heart.
Jim Gillis: Are you kiddin'? I never felt better.
Waldo: But your wife - she left you.
Jim Gillis: She'll be back in a couple or three days. I planned the whole thing.
Chester A. Riley: You what?
Jim Gillis: I got her sore on purpose.
Waldo: You did?
Jim Gillis: Sure! I figure once a year, every married man should get away from his wife for a few days.
Chester A. Riley: Yeah, but, ah...
Jim Gillis: So by her leavin', I'm getting away without goin' out of the house.

Augmenting Arguments

Honeybee comes over to the Rileys saying she has left Gillis. The problem is that Honeybee's mother is coming and he doesn't want her in the house. Honeybee asks to stay with the Rileys for a few days, and also for her mother to stay. Riley and Waldo go to try and straighten things out with Gillis. Gillis insists he has earned a few days break and planned the whole thing. Peg is upset that Riley has bought a fancy mustache cup, leading to an argument between the two. Now Riley and Gillis argue over the situation. Peg gets into an argument with their grocer Mr. Greenspreckle who calls her a tightwad. Riley asks Junior to spy on Peg. Junior overhears his mother's fuming about the grocer and misunderstands it as talking about his father. Now Riley feels he must try harder than ever to patch things up.
