Trivia The movie was announced shortly after the release of the novel with the same name. Ron Howard would act as a producer this time, with Mark Romanek as appointed director and Dan Brown himself writing the screenplay. However, it was later decided to skip 'The Lost Symbol', in favor of Howard himself adapting Brown's next Robert Langdon novel 'Inferno' into Inferno (2016). Howard stated that the reason was that they had difficulties seeing the cinematic potential of 'Symbol', possibly because of the many similarities in theme and story with National Treasure (2004). The book will be adapted as a limited series for CBS Television Studios instead. See more »
