When a man Atwater knows is shot in his store. He takes it personally. Miller asks Voight if he would allow Andre Cooper, the partner of the cop who shot a black man into his team cause he is being shunned by the department over what happened with his partner. Voight says he doesn't need him. Investigation into the shooting reveals that a gang might be responsible. They think they need to send someone undercover and since they are all known. Voight asks Cooper to do it, he gets close to a guy who joined the gang out of necessity. While working on the guy he empathizes with him and worries how this will affect him. Behind the scenes over the last several ears, the show-runners of Chicago PD have become desperate for a more "PC", shallow and less compelling narrative and charecter development. They nearly gutted the show by dropping 3 of the series absolute best characters, radically toned down the "back room" interrogations and keep notching the series toward a bland "woke" artificiality that is becoming less and less interesting. In this episode they have suddenly introduced a new cop, of color, and continued to distance the show away from its original gritty qualities into an increasingly bland and meandering show. The cast remains sterling. the writing, not so much.
