Roman Atwood To Attempt Awe-Inspiring Stunts In New YouTube Red Series

YouTube is adding to its portfolio of family-friendly Red originals alongside the prank maestro-turned-daily vlogger Roman Atwood, who has amassed more than 23 million subscribers across his two channels to date. While Atwood’s content has ignited controversy in the past -- including several prank videos in which he has pretended to murder his children -- the 34-year-old father of three has now abandoned his prank channel (10 million subscribers) and settled on family vlogs (13 million subscribers).

Roman Atwood’s Day Dreams will see Atwood, his family, and a team of volunteers staging extreme projects to make people’s wildest dreams come true, according to a release -- including creating a monster truck playground in his backyard and attempting a tricycle backflip at Nitro Circus. It sounds vaguely similar to Furze World Wonders, another family-friend YouTube Red series from backyard inventor Colin Furze, in which he puts his invention skills to good use to help other people.

Imagine Confirms Raine Group Investment

Imagine Confirms Raine Group Investment
Imagine Entertainment has confirmed that it has a new financial backer, the Raine Group.

Variety first broke the news that the merchant bank was putting more than $100 million into the production company behind “Apollo 13,” “A Beautiful Mind,” and “The Da Vinci Code.” Imagine did not confirm the size of the investment beyond dubbing it “significant.”

Imagine is headed up by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. The investment comes as other top-shelf production companies, among them Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners, are on the prowl for new financial partners who will give them the capital to compete in a changing movie and media business.

“The ways in which content is created and consumed are transforming faster than ever before, expanding in directions that hadn’t been conceived even a few years ago,” Grazer said in a statement. “The opportunity to extend Imagine’s reach across this expanding landscape is a driving force for us.
