Tessa Thompson And Chris Hemsworth Wander The Desert In Men In Black Set Pic

Seeing how the main characters’ formal attire is referenced in the very name of the Men in Black series, it seems pretty important that the leads for any new installment in the sci-fi saga should look the part in suits. Fortunately, the various set photos we’ve been seeing from next year’s release have provided more than enough evidence that Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth can pull the look off.

This latest pic, shared via Thompson’s Instagram, also indicates that a trip to the desert is on the cards for the pair. This development seems in line with previous statements from Hemsworth himself that the much anticipated flick will be changing up the locations, taking the team out of New York and to new parts of the world.

A fresh set of locations isn’t the only thing that the next Men in Black will be doing differently though,

‘Holmes & Watson’ Trailer: Elementary, My Dear Ricky Bobby

‘Holmes & Watson’ Trailer: Elementary, My Dear Ricky Bobby
There’s plenty of room inside the Sherlock Holmes tent, with the canon easily available to everything from those fantastic gravel-crunching British movies, to teenage (Barry Levinson’s Young Sherlock Holmes) and elderly (Bill Condon’s Mr. Holmes) takes, Guy Ritchie’s action-hero versions and, most recently, a simply stunning modern adaptation pulled off by the BBC, Masterpiece Theater, Mark Gatiss, Steven Moffat, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

So add to that the newest inductee to the club, Sony/Columbia PicturesHolmes & Watson, a rare stab at a comedic take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s Victorian master detective and his cohort, and the latest reteam of Will Ferrell and John C Reilly from their Talladega Nights and Step Brothers days. Sony Pictures dropped the first trailer today ahead of its December 21 release date.

This one goes period and parody, as you would hope and expect from Ferrell and Reilly

Rebecca Hall to Direct Ruth Negga, Tessa Thompson in ‘Passing’
Rebecca Hall has been hired to direct Ruth Negga and Tessa Thompson in the thriller “Passing.”

Hall is making her feature directorial debut on the project, directing from a script she adapted from Nella Larsen’s Harlem Renaissance novella. Margot Hand of Picture Films and Oren Moverman of Sight Unseen are set to produce, with Angela Robinson executive producing.

“Passing” follows the unexpected reunion of two high school friends, whose renewed acquaintance ignites a mutual obsession that threatens both of their carefully constructed realities. Larsen’s story was first published in 1929 by Knopf and her exploration of race was informed by her own mixed racial heritage and the increasingly common practice of racial passing in the 1920s.

Hall’s acting credits include “Christine,” “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” “Frost/Nixon,” and “The Dinner.” Negga will be seen next on stage in Dublin at the Gate performing in “Hamlet” and in James Gray’s “Ad Astra.

Emma Thompson reprising Agent O role in Men in Black spin-off

It looks like we’ll see at least one familiar face from the Men in Black franchise in the series’ spin-off starring Thor: Ragnarok‘s Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Academy Award winner Emma Thompson will reprise her Men in Black 3 role as Agent O, the leader of the secret organization.

Thompson’s Agent O assumed the leadership role after the death of Z, reflecting the real life passing of Z actor Rip Torn. She was also played by Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness) as a younger version of the character in the 60s timeline.

Joining Hemsworth and the two Thompsons is Liam Neeson (Taken), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Rafe Spall (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as well as Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois, a street dancing duo known as the Les Twins. Filming on Men in Black will begin later this month in London.

Review: Deadpool 2 (2018)

When Deadpool became a huge hit in 2016, not only did it cleanse Ryan Reynolds’ soul by finally doing justice to the character after the studio assisted butchery of Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but it also did a world of good for R-rated superhero projects. Long considered a risk, the success of Deadpool has undeniably impacted the genre and shown the big wigs that a harder comic book movie can still make the green. In the time since, we have already seen Suicide Squad and Logan (both 15 rated in the UK) follow suit and on the horizon future Dceu projects are toying with heavier ratings, and the upcoming Hellboy and Spawn reboots have confirmed it. However, that was then, now Deadpool is back for more and is the formula of crude fourth wall breaking satire, anarchic violent action scenes and a massively tomfooling marketing campaign still enough to work? The answer is yes,

Josh Brolin: Why The Dceu’s Loss Is Marvel’s Gain

While it’s only five months into the year and it might be a little premature to declare, it’s looking like 2018 will belong to Josh Brolin. The seasoned actor put in a sensational motion capture performance as Thanos in the record-smashing Avengers: Infinity War and is set to portray the popular time traveling mutant Cable in Deadpool 2. We wouldn’t bet against these two movies becoming a part of the top 10 highest grossing films of the year.

It isn’t like Brolin needed a big comic book role (never mind two) to cement his status as one of the best actors in Hollywood, mind you. For years he’s starred in award winning films and been showered with accolades for his performances. Truth be told, you would think that Brolin would’ve avoided the comic book movie world after seeing his previous ventures into the genre turn out so-so,

Quentin Tarantino and Tom Hardy Excite at CinemaCon, But Sony’s 2018 Slate Feels Oddly Familiar

Sony would like you to know it’s committed to originality. That was the message reiterated by its executives at the studio’s CinemaCon presentation Monday night — and no one was more passionate than chairman Tom Rothman, who spoke of the studio’s “increasing dedication” and “commitment” to the concept.

However, Rothman presided over a show-and-tell that included Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly doing their “Step Brothers” schtick in “Holmes and Watson” as Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Watson (tagline: “The World’s Greatest Dicks”); “Hotel Transylvania 3,” Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween,” “Equalizer 2,” “Sicario 2,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” Marvel’s “Venom,” remakes of “Superfly” and “Miss Bala,” “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” and teasing mentions of 2019 titles “Men in Black 3,” the still-untitled “Spider-Man: Homecoming” sequel, and “Jumanji 2.”

Many of these films looked appealing; the CinemaCon audience at the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum particularly responded to “Venom,” with Tom Hardy

The Bad Guys coming to the big screen courtesy of DreamWorks Animation

DreamWorks Animation has enlisted screenwriter Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Men in Black 3) to pen an adaptation of award-winning author Aaron Blabey’s bestselling Scholastic book series The Bad Guys.

Variety reports that the film will revolve around “four “bad guys” — Mr. Wolf, Mr. Shark, Mr. Snake, and Mr. Piranha — who, after growing tired of others screaming and running away from them, decide to become a force for good… despite their affinity for being bad.”

The synopsis for the first book in the series reads:

“They sound like bad guys, they look like bad guys… and they even smell like bad guys. But Mr. Wolf, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Snake, and Mr. Shark are about to change all of that. Mr. Wolf has a daring plan for the Bad Guys’ first good mission. They are going to break two hundred dogs out of the Maximum Security City Dog Pound. Will Operation Dog Pound go smoothly?

Chris Hemsworth in Talks to Star in Men in Black Reboot/Spinoff

Chris Hemsworth is in early talks to star in Sony’s Men in Black reboot/spinoff. Starting in 1997 with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, Sony successfully found a new franchise to play with. Secret agents working to protect the planet from intergalactic threats gave Men in Black a great mixture of humor and action. The movie spawned two sequels, the latter of which came in 2012, but Men in Black 3 was not the franchise revival Sony was looking for.

We last saw the sunglasses-wearing, neuralyzer-wielding gents in Men in Black 3 (2012), which came out a whole decade after Men in Black II. This new installment is separate from the previously reported crossover with 21 Jump Street, a mashup that may never see the light of day. According to Deadline, Sony and Amblin are in negotiations with F. Gary Gray (above on the set of The Italian Job) to helm the spin-off, who has directed back-to-back successes for Universal. The hot streak began with Straight Outta Compton in 2015. He followed that up with The Fate of the Furious, the eighth film in the ongoing action saga and the 12th top grossing film of...

Men In Black spin-off movie being fast-tracked by Sony

Joseph Baxter Oct 2, 2017

After years of planning, the Men in Black film franchise will move forward, this time with a spinoff movie focused on new characters.

Discussions over the past few years about a prospective crossover between Men In Black and the rebooted cop comedy 21 Jump Street film franchises have just been flashed with a proverbial neuralyzer device. Sony Pictures has made the decision to move forward from the stalled crossover idea with plans for an Mib spinoff film instead, that advances the extraterrestrial immigration agent legacy.

THR is reporting that the Men In Black franchise will continue with a spinoff movie that shifts focus away from Will Smith's Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones's Agent K to a new generation of suit-sporting enforcers.

The script will be written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, the duo behind 2008’s Marvel Cinematic Universe-launching Iron Man and the recent Transformers: The Last Knight.

Deadpool 2 Director Praises Josh Brolin's Performance As Cable

Actor Josh Brolin is going to have a killer 2018 (and beyond)! Brolin will appear as two iconic Marvel characters in two completely separate Marvel universes. First, in May, Brolin will finally take center stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, after teasing the character for over five years. Then, in June, Brolin will appear as Nathan Summers aka Cable in Deadpool 2, the sequel to the hit 2016 R-rated action-comedy, over in Fox's Marvel universe populated by mutants. But, is Brolin up to the challenge? Can he really give Deadpool 2 his all when also playing the McU's biggest, baddest villain?

With less than 20 days into shooting Deadpool 2, director David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) discussed working with Brolin with IGN:

"When he graciously agreed to do the role, Ryan and I were through the roof; we love him. He's such a great actor, he brings a humanity to Cable,
