Andy Muschietti kept Bill Skarsgård isolated from the rest of the cast/crew during the beginning of filming, the exception being a three person costume/makeup team. This was to make sure Skarsgård's performance was shocking to the other actors, as well as to avoid leaked photos. Although Skarsgård thought this was a good strategy, he admitted that he felt very lonely during this time, and was sad that he couldn't bond with the rest of the people involved, something he says is one of his favorite parts of making a movie. In the sewer, it is mentioned that they are swimming in "grey water".
'Grey water' is from shower, bath and sink drains. Not sewerage. Sewerage water is called 'black water'. Although, grey and black water are often sent through the same waste water pipes, the grey water can be diverted to/for gardening purposes, black water legally cannot be diverted this way due to bio hazards. I am very surprised that this film got such a high ranking. I enjoy the books, films and TV shows of Stephen King but found that this film fell way too short. The trailer looks great and Pennywise the clown looks terrifying so I was really looking forward to seeing this, but after watching this film which is over 2 hours long I could not wait for it to finish,I was waiting for it to get better but it does not - there was no scare factor whatsoever I just found it a bit boring and such a let down. I really feel this should have just gone straight to DVD - way over hyped.
