1. Doctor Strange Has Lots Of “Magic Hero” Predecessors Let’s go back over a 100 years, when magicians where a popular part of live entertainment. Many real-life stage performers like Houdini and Blackstone branched out into the printed page, starring in fictional exploits via booklets called “penny dreadfuls” which became the lurid pulp novels. In 1931 a radio show presented the adventures of the mysterious “Chandu the Magician” (one big fan was young Stan Lee). Edmund Lowe battled master

Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey lends her voice to Danger Mouse reboot

If you watched Danger Mouse as a kid in the 80s then your childhood was probably pretty cool. UK national treasure David Jason originally voiced the secret agent mouse during its decade long run from 1981 to 1992. It was announced last year that well known British comedian and television show host Alexander Armstrong would take over from David Jason in the BBC’S upcoming reboot and now we have a couple of other big names joining the ranks.

Deadline is reporting that Lena Headey – better known as Cersei Lannister, the baddest bitch in all of Westeros – will lend her voice to the new show as Us special agent Jeopardy Mouse. The Daily Show‘s John Oliver will also join the cast, voicing the recurring adversary Dr. Augustus P. Crumhorn III.

The news was first announced late Sunday night during a Sdcc panel. Headey explained her decision to join the show:

The Sub Mariner Should Appear On Agents of Shield

  • Cinelinx
With the current comic book boom under way, you’d expect Marvel to show some love for their first-ever character—Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Since legal entanglements prevent Namor from showing up in a film, why not allow the king of the seas to meet the Agents of Shield?

Last year, it was reported that Marvel has ‘mostly’ regained the rights to the character of the Sub-Mariner, but with some confusing legal hurdles. Marvel’s big boss Kevin Feige has said, “There are entanglements that make it less easy. There are older contracts that still involve other parties that mean we need to work things out before we move forward on it.” So for the time being, Prince Namor languishes in limbo, while less popular characters like Ant-Man and the Black Panther beat him to the screen. This is ironic because the Sub-Mariner is the first character the company ever made,

Who are the four contenders for Dr. Doom in The Fantastic Four?

  • JoBlo
Now that The Fantastic Four-some has been cast, it.s time for the villain. As you may have guessed, the baddie for the flick will indeed be Dr. Doom. Though it.s so very simple, I love that name. Lately, I.ve been seeing Doom in his short statured animated form on The Super Hero Squad Show which will be much different from the one we will see in the live-action reboot. Now we have four contenders for the Doom role: Sam Riley (Control), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Toby Kebbell...

Marvel Linchpin Stan Lee Will Appear On Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

All eyes were on Marvel this past fall as the studio made the leap to the small screen with their first ‘event’ television series, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The show, which returns to ABC tonight for its first episode after a brief winter hiatus, premiered to huge ratings in late September, though recent episodes have shown a slightly worrying decrease in viewership. However, smaller ratings weren’t enough to deter ABC from ordering a full, 22-episode season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last October. Now, we have confirmation that the series will get some added star-power in an upcoming episode, from none other than comic-book mogul Stan Lee.

Lee, who also serves as an executive producer on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., told THR that he will appear in “a big role.” His episode is expected to air on February 4, though that is subject to change.

The former president of Marvel is

Is Marvel Moving Forward on Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Series for Disney Xd?

Is Marvel Moving Forward on Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Series for Disney Xd?
Back in July of last year, Marvel comics editor Stephen Wacker teased that Disney Xd is moving forward with an animated series based on director James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Here are his comments,

"Now, look, I can't officially confirm that we spent a Lot of time talking about the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon but wouldn't that Hypothetically... be amazing? Seriously though, don't ask me about it because it totally didn't happen."

Now, sources close to Disney and Marvel have revealed to Comic Book Movie that an animated series based on Guardians of the Galaxy is in fact moving forward, and that it will debut on Disney Xd sometime before the end of the year.

Information on the new half-hour adventure series is sparse. Marvel and Disney were planning to make an all-new animated series about Spider-Man, but opted to move on Guardians of the Galaxy instead.

Full Trailer for Marvel's Avengers Assemble

Ugh. Here's the full trailer for Marvel's new animated series Avengers Assemble, and it just looks like an all-around bad show. You can actually watch the first episode on iTunes for free by clicking here. I wasn't able to sit through the whole thing. I found it annoying. I'm not a big fan of the tone, dialogue, and poor animation. I'm not sure why they didn't use the same team that brought us Earth's Mightiest Heroes because that was a fun show. My kids even enjoyed watching it, but they didn't take to Avengers Assemble either. They lost interest faster than I did, so Marvel is obviously doing something wrong because it didn't hit with my little fan girls, and it didn't hit with me either.

Avengers Assemble - Promo Trailer and New Image

I really enjoyed watching The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I like the story, animation and character designs for that show. As you know, Marvel and Disney cancelled that series and replaced it with another one called Avengers Assemble. This is our first look at footage from the series, and I've got to say I'm not impressed. I know the show is for kids; I'm just not a big fan of these character designs, the style, or animation. It looks cheap, but maybe that's what they're going for.

An animated series parallel to the record-breaking blockbuster movie Marvel's The Avengers, "Avengers Assemble" sees Iron Man leading the team of mightiest heroes – Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow and newcomer Falcon – who combine their powers to battle threats no single hero could overcome. When the Avengers assemble, evil doesn't stand a chance. The voice cast includes: Adrian Pasdar ("Heroes") as Iron Man,
