Paul Smith: The Reddest Herring (2008)

*** (out of 4)

Character actor Paul Smith is given a hour to talk about his career, which includes films like EXODUS, RETURN OF THE TIGER, MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, PIECES, POPEYE, CRIMEWAVE, RED SONJA and David Lynch's DUNE.

There's no doubt that Smith is having a blast talking about his career as he's constantly smiling and laughing as he talks about the various famous people he has worked with. He tells stories about Bruce Li, Christopher George, Sam Raimi, Lynch and even Arnold Schwarzenegger. The actor tells many great stories about stuff that was going on behind the scenes but he also talks about his personal life and things that happened in between all the movies. Smith comes across extremely charming and he appears very happy with his career. This is a bonus feature on the PIECES release and the actor talks a bit about that film but it's DUNE that gets the most discussion.
