Trivia

Dave Foley was under contract for the Paul Simms network sitcom, "NewsRadio" with Phil Hartman, Andy Dick, Maura Tierney, Stephen Root and Vicki Lewis and so he filmed the HBO miniseries during hiatus. Because of the crewcut required for "From The Earth To The Moon" Foley wore a wig for the first several episodes of season two and three of NewsRadio, a fact that becomes quite evident upon a second look. Additionally, the new opening that was created for NewsRadio Foley is not wearing a wig, so the credit titles were superimposed to cover his head. See more »

Goofs

While in quarantine at the Lunar Receiving Lab, Dick Gordon mentions wanting to "go to Pe-Te's, for some Cajun food and a couple of beers". The Apollo 12 mission took place in November of 1969. Pe-Te's Cajun Barbecue House, while indeed a popular spot for astronauts, did not open until nearly 10 years later, in the summer of 1979. See more »

Quotes

Al Bean: And I realized, when you go through any endeavor, any journey, whether across town or to the moon and back, all that matters is that you share the experience with people you love. That's what makes life special. Because ultimately, that's all there is. That's really all there is.

Alternate Versions

On the 1999 UK VHS version, three uses of strong language (one said by a newscaster and two by astronauts) were cut out by the BBFC in order to avoid getting a 15 rating and to keep the episode in line with the rest of the series (at a PG rating). When the series was re-submitted in 2006 for the DVD release, the episode was passed uncut with a 15 rating. See more »
