From Our Family to Yours

Rather than a heartwarming, coherent, meaningful story, it seemed this was just meant to reinforce the Disney brand by depicting a girl and her grandmother bonding over the repair of a Mickey doll. The way it's depicted, though, it seems the doll, after getting torn, was just left out for a while, and it's really unclear why the ear suddenly fall off entirely, and even the climactic scene depicts not some impressive sewing skills but instead the making of a whole bunch of those light-star lantern things. The whole thing is convoluted, and presented rather arbitrarily, with no indication about character motivation and no sense of stakes. Flat, shallow, hollow consumerism.

For a much better animated short, I recommend Feast.

I love that they included Mickey Mouse. It makes me feel so nostalgic and brings me back to my childhood. This is a very heartwarming short and has a great message. We don't always think about the past of our parents, grandparents, etc. And this is a lovely reminder to cherish your family and the precious memories you share(d) with them. The song they chose was simply beautiful and really went well with the story. I for sure would recommend watching this short.

The animation is on point and what a cute story. This was an AD and it's cute and subtle the way they incorporated Mickey who everyone knows, but only a few people who really care in this era.

Amongst the best <5min short I can remember.
