Marvel sweep at Teen Choice Awards? ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ both poised for heroic victories

At the recent MTV Movie and TV Awards “Black Panther” reigned supreme, taking Best Movie and leaving its fellow Marvel extravaganza “Avengers: Infinity War” in the dust — so to speak. But at the upcoming Teen Choice Awards on August 12 both movies are likely winners since they contend in different categories.

Black Panther” is up for Choice Sci-Fi Movie, where it is the overwhelming front-runner to win. It gets leading odds of 1/5 based on the combined predictions of Gold Derby users. Ranked a distant second is another Marvel movie, “Thor: Ragnarok,” with 18/1 odds. “Blade Runner 2049” also has 18/1 odds, followed by “Rampage” (33/1) and “Ready Player One” (40/1).

Set in the fictional African kingdom of Wakanda where the title character (Chadwick Boseman) protects his people from dangerous outsiders, “Black Panther” has nine nominations overall, also including Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor (Boseman) and three bids for Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actress.

Junkie Xl to Score Peter Jackson's Mortal Engines Soundtrack

Junkie Xl to Score Peter Jackson's Mortal Engines Soundtrack
It has just been revealed that Junkie Xl, aka Tom Holkenborg, recently finished his score for the upcoming Mortal Engines movie. Before it was revealed that the composer was going to take on the project, a few internet forums had already decided that he'd be a good fit because of his work on Mad Max: Fury Road. As evidenced by the Mortal Engines trailer, it has a similar feel to Fury Road, and while that's not necessarily a reason to choose a composer, Junkie Xl's use of atmospherics and extreme moods does make him a rather perfect candidate.

Mortal Engines is an upcoming post-apocalyptic film directed by Christian Rivers off of a screenplay by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens. The story is based on the novel of the same name by Phillip Reeve and it takes place in the steampunk world where cities have been mounted on wheels and become motorized.

‘Tomb Raider’ Blu-ray Review

Stars: Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, Kristin Scott Thomas, Nick Frost, Hannah John-Kamen, Jaime Winstone | Written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Alastair Siddons | Directed by Roar Uthaug

Alicia Vikander stars as iconic archaeologist-slash-adventurer Lara Croft in this enjoyable reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, directed by Norwegian Roar Uthaug. Specifically based on the 2013 Crystal Dynamic game (and its sequel), the new film is remarkably faithful to its source material and the results are extremely impressive.

The Crystal Dynamic games are notable for making Lara a little more realistic and so it proves here. Accordingly, the film opens with a London-set prologue that serves to ground the character: Vikander’s Lara is introduced as a direction-less young woman, unable to deal with the disappearance of her adventurer father, Richard (Dominic West), seven years previously.

After receiving a video message from her father, Lara embarks on a dangerous journey to his last known location,

Nathan Fillion Made His Own ‘Uncharted’ Fan Film

Nathan Fillion Made His Own ‘Uncharted’ Fan Film
For years fans have been dream-casting “Firefly’s” Nathan Fillion as “Uncharted’s” Nathan Drake. Sadly the movie adaptation of the “Indiana Jones” meets “Tomb Raider” video game has been stuck in development purgatory for years. So Fillion went and made his own movie.

When the Naughty Dog video game dropped back in 2007, the physical similarities between Fillion and Drake were pretty apparent. Eventually “Spider-Man’s” Avi Arad, Chares Roven and Alex Gartner would begin to pursue a big screen translation penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. Shortly after the movie news made it into the public sphere, Fillion revealed his desires to play Drake on Twitter. This proclamation started a whisper campaign that echoed in the halls of Comic-Con for years. But it was all for naught, as it’s been over a decade, and there’s still no “Uncharted” film.

So Fillion and friends decided to
