Alex Hamilton lives with his over-worked Mother and quirky younger sister, Jessica. His parents have recently separated, and he blames his mother for leaving his father and moving them to a rough part of town. Strange things begin to happen next-door, and Alex learns that their neighbor is suspected of a serious crime. Convinced that the neighborhood is unsafe, Alex attempts to persuade his mother to move back in with their father. When this fails, he involves, Christina, a pretty girl-next-door and his little sister Jessica to investigate the allegations against their neighbor. Their escapades become increasingly risky, until Alex finds himself in a predicament greater than he ever imagined.

Aperture was filmed in two homes. One was rented for the summer, the other was the Director of Photography's home.
Principal photography took place over one of the hottest summers on record.
The air conditioner in the main home had to be turned off during filming and the sets became very hot.

The DP still finds fake cobwebs in his basement.
The hat worn by Alex in the basement was an homage to Indiana Jones, a favorite character of the Director.
The Norfolk Fire Department was filmed over the course of several hours in one day.
The ice cream cone scene was shot over several hours during a 100-degree afternoon. The crew enjoyed eating all the ice cream that melted after several takes. Jessica had a different cone in some shots due to the heat melting the soft serve ice cream. See more
