Two girls, members of a Mennonite community in the USA Deep South, have a first encounter with the outside world, which the short movie lets you view through their innocent, alien eyes. "The dirty ones" may be their term for all outsiders.
So "The Dirty Ones" initially presents itself as sort of Jean Rollin does Mennonites in Tennessee. But shortly after the introduction it changes directions and turns into Harmony Korine-lite without the sense of humor or nuance. Everything is turned way down here, with wooden acting and uninspired cinematography that would put Bresson to sleep. If the Korine family wasn't involved, this stinker wouldn't have even been shown at the local library, much less Sundance. The only thing worthwhile in this copy & paste was the soundtrack.
