Storyline

In the ring, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton announced they had filed a formal protest relating to the outcome of the "Fatal Four-Way" match last week, alleging collusion between Shawn Michaels and JBL (so that JBL would earn his shot at WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena at the Royal Rumble). JBL came out and claimed that they (Jericho and Orton) would have done the same thing if they had his resources. Michaels then said he was glad that he prevented Jericho and Orton from fighting for the title. Jericho and Orton snickered, stating that Michaels was a phony and that his recent actions cheapened the outcome of his WrestleMania XXIV match with Ric Flair. General manager Stephanie McMahon came out and refused to accept the protest and that the Cena-JBL match at the Royal Rumble would go on as announced, and that Jericho and Orton are entered in the Royal Rumble.
